Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Whenever I think about List Management I prefer to be as dispassionate and reasoned as I possibly can.

And The Morton Question is a prime example of why.

If we get rid of him do we have the chance to bring in someone whose talents would outweigh the possible benefits of another couple seasons of Cale working with Misson and Neeld?

I know it depends on who else is leaving but I just don't see it as prudent to move Cale on if his endeavour and desire is up (as it has been) and we can see some light at the end of Misson Tunnel for Cale.

Your admission that you made it up without any facts to back it is appreciated.

Sure sure.

What about Cale's mis-directed 3 metre handpass to Brent Moloney when we were surging against the Dogs in the final quarter?? That wouldn't count in your definition of disposal efficiency would it. But of course his skills are elite aren't they? Where are your facts then buddy?

As one of Mort's biggest critics over the journey, I have to admit that he has started to show "something" since the last quarter against the Bulldogs. I've never bought into the "elite skills" or "elite running" stuff that gets thrown around because he's not a gutsy kind of player, and I hate when people say "we need outside players like Morton" and I think that is total BS. But lately I've seen the beginnings of an appetite for hard work. Yet to see these supposed silky skills, but something is starting to click, he's still making a few Morton Senior (aka Cam Bruce) clangers, but for the first time in years I feel hope for him.

Let's give him as many games as he earns this year and then by seasons end he's either a hungry (I know, he always looks hungry haha), hard working, versatile regular 22 player, or he's packed off...

Hey, even I acknowledge his last two games he has put a lot more effort into his play. I have no doubt he has been told what he has to do. Rawlings said he didn't have the trust of the players over summer and he looks like he is working to rebuild that.

I so want him to be a good player who puts in week in week out. It's simply that I am at my wits end because he has been given chance after chance. And many of us have been disappointed time and time again with insipid efforts. So here's hoping I and many others here are proven wrong.

Same here mate. Has frustrated me because in the past I've felt like his drafting position has awarded him more chances than others, I have hope for the first time though.

You are kidding right? Should have hit him on the [censored] without question. But if you really believe that was good play by Cale rather than a mistake then it tells me all I need to know about your opinions.

One poor handball sure proves he turns it over 40% of the time.

And I don't have to prove anything - you're the one making outrageous claims. 40% turnover rate is a very damning brush to paint a player with. If you're going to make outrageous claims, the onus is on you to prove it.

That's my take on it too after seeing it again. Shit handpass and a shit effort at getting it. Both players lose.

We have (I think) another 17 games in 2012.

Cale has plenty of time to prove to Neeld that he has the physical and mental attributes to stay with us beyond this season.

Over to you, Cale. Do you really want it?

Been mentioned a few times this thread and heaps over summer, and I don't want this to turn into a Morton bashing session, but am I the only one that finds it odd that a player would need to hire a personal trainer. We have coaches, fitness staff and world standard training facilities. Each player at this level has they're own specific training loads worked out with individual goals in mind. Why would anyone need a personal trainer??? I find it odd

Lots of players do it...even Jobe Watson did extra boxing sessions away from the club priot ot the 2006 season.

15 points down in the third quarter and about to push into attack, another lazy Morton handpass is blocked, turned over and Geelong goal. after that i think they blew it out to around 40pts......it was a critical time in the game. another moment later in the game when some heat was applied to him and he gave a handpass straight to a cats player.

i think his progress has been ok in recent weeks but i was disappointed with him today. this is not meant to be an out and out bagging of the guy, but he really is soo soft he almost becomes a liability. he is in our best 22 ATM but i really just don't want him in our side going forward because he continually lets you down when he needs to do the hard things.

Was an infuriating moment in an otherwise promising game, and Cale can hardly be held responsible for the 4 goals that followed. Chapman and Johnson stepped up a gear when needed. We don't have players near their level.

His progress was good again today, he is coming from a low base Cale but he threw himself around and did something even more brave - actually ran and spread and found the ball in space - something many team mates didn't look for.

true he can't be held responsible for the following four goals, but even though we weren't really a chance, it did change momentum.

i like Cale's run and spread, but he is so deficient in his physical game, he needs to be spot on in everything else, and he's just not.

i really can't see him in our team when we are a serious side, but thats just my opinion.

Still believe he can make it, but I'm far from getting excited. It wasn't a great performance today, and I'm amazed at those that put him as our best.

Semantics, but no-one has said 'best' but outside of Clark, Grimes, Garland, Frawley, and Jones, Morton was cometing with some very up-and-down performances.

Morton's kicking accuracy is probably more reliable in the last few weeks than most in our team and he reminded me of someone else when he broke out of the midfield, ran in and nearly kicked a goal today from 55 metres out. Give him time and confidence and everything I said about him might just be proven wrong.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
