Neil Craig

So with all the movement that has taken place, from a coaching point of view, what places still need to be filled?

Midfield has been taken care of/filled - Royal/Greaves

Royal moving to the midfield opens up for a new back-line coach and Mahoney moving into footy manager paths the way for a new forward coach too. Plus, Neeld might go after a senior assistant coach as well.

Maybe Craig might become the latter, maybe he won't. Good acquisition if he came on board, wouldn't be upset if he didn't. More curious as to who will fill the coaching roles of fwd/backline.

I disagree - Icke would be a greater asset than Craig. We are weak in this area , thus C.C moving to a totally new area & Mahoney hasn't even cut his teeth in his new role as Football Manager. Icke, if he came in would basically become C.S's deputy & designated CEO IMO.This is an area the club needs to strengthen & cover..

Hagdorn is performing his usual routine, drawing long bows and making wild assumptions in a desperate attempt to look like had the inside word.

It may be a "shock" move to him, but according to the Herald Sun it has been expected for some time as Icke & Ratten don't see eye to eye.

We wait.

Steven Icke has been sacked by the Blues and the rumour mill is working overtime stating that Neil Craig will join them. Our friends at Sportsnews First are at it again:

So we can assume from this that he's not headed to Carlton?

The way this is going we will have more off field personnel than players.

Hope we don't forget that these guys don't actually play!

Well I can't keep up. Michaelangelo Rucci claims we have won Neil Craig's aka Craig David's services and an announcement will be made today.

Great get if that's the case - looking like a top little team we're putting together to support Neeld!

simma02, I quite like this sentence by Rucci.

NEIL Craig is ready to declare his future in AFL football ... and it is at Melbourne.
from that link.

He posted this at 12:20pm, Kim at 1:10pm. Must have clicked on Rucci's update...

Anyway.....well done Melbournefc.

whether Craig is a beautiful fit for the jigsaw of MFC success, only time will tell. But what I do like is that good people are choosing to come to this footy club. The culture is changing...early days so far.

If it's true that we have beaten several other clubs and the AFL for his services it is an enormous pr win to us. It shows we are moving ahead and will leave no stone unturned in order to improve. The players must be excited with the new people coming in many of whom are leaders in their field.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
