Damn, I told Mrs Robbie, showed her his picture and she said, Nah!

Mrs Robbie is never wrong.

Well she does have good taste RobbieF she picked you!

How is Mrs. Robbie

I don't think the club could go wrong with Burns, Neeld or Sanderson.

And the main benefit of signing such established senior assistants???

Having an extra 500-600K to throw around the football department, surround the new guy with the most talented people we can get (obviously), but this process becomes expensive

Under our 2011 circumstances completely underwhelming appointment for mine.

If true again we have failed to land a Big Fish & settled for another untried tagpole.

Exact same empty feeling I had when Dean Bailey was appointed.

I also had this same feeling when Swooper Northey was appointed & that turned out OK.

Mixed emotions at present if True.

Well if this is the case, i won't be at all upset. My only question is, even though he has vast experience as a coach in several roles, will we go down the path of appointing a Director of Football such as Neil Craig? I'm sure that Neeld alone would be a fine choice, but there would be no harm in adding another senior figure with a heap of experience and knowledge in Craig to our footy department. As previously stated, like icing on the cake!

Our boys club needs to be shaken up, what could be better than a guy from them Pies plus a fella with a wealth of Sports Science knowledge. The Adelaide fellas are huge, don't for one second think that Craig isn't responsible for that!

With these 2 in charge, at least our defensive side of things will be sured up, the midfield it seems as well. All that is needed then is to lure big Dawesy and the puzzle is complete! Either that or one G Lyon might be putting the boots back on! He's surely given his back long enough to heal. Go Dees!

So if Neeld...then who's his team ?

I think Neeld is a good realisticdecision. Gets away from these fanciful ideas that Matthews or Roo's would give up their well paid easy going gigs in the media because our list some how empowers them to coach again. As much as I want Malthouse to coach, latching on to raised eyebrows and left field statements is an indication that we are holding onto hope a little to hard..

Slotting Neil Craig in some sort of capacity would be ising on the cake.

If true we need to announce soon, get in their before the crows and the dogs, so it gives the impression that we got Neeld before anyone else....

Feel a bit underwhelmed also. But no doubt Neeld is an astute smart man. Has some good experience at a lot of levels and I guess ticks alot of boxes. But does he evoke any fear, because I honeslty think we need a bit of that. As does duck:

The most important part of the equation.

I like the fact that Neeld is a qualified teacher, he thus should know how to delegate to the right people the info needed.

She keeps telling me that, hang on that's right she tells me what impeccable taste I have.

Not at all well unfortunately.

And maybe the cryptic words of MM lately where he has taken an interest in Melbourne and also thinking they may improve next year (I think I have read him saying that) was him knowing about who was in line for the job and he rates he highly??

Caroline makes the MFC sound like the catholic church "anointing" but not appointing...

It wouldn't be the first time she's brought up a religious connotation in regards to football. She claimed Andrew Walker looked like he was praying when he took that mark earlier in the year.

On topic: I'm not too sure about Neeld as coach, he looks good at Collingwood but do we really need another inexperienced senior?

I don't disagree with Carey at all. But there is nothing to say that Neeld isn't that man, along with whoever else will be appointed to Coaching and Footy roles.

The Duck is right....Is Mark Neeld the man to instill Respect and Fear into our list??

I have never met him so i cannot say...

I'd love for him to come out in his press conference and firmly state that he favoured us over any of the other teams, "i had several offers, but i considered the MFC's opportunity to be above and beyond any other. At the end of the day, there was only really one choice for me" kind of thing!!!

WOuldn't mind Neill Craig coming into the PC too kicking Connolly out of the seat and saying "time for things to be done right"!!!

Weeks 1-3 MFC thinking about the process

Weeks 3-5 Clarkson offered Huge deal in media

Weeks 5-6 Lyon offered huge deal through the media ect

Weeks 6-7 Neeld???? *current

Weeks 7-8 Burns???? * next week

Week 9 *Grand final over???? just seems played out and nobody has any real clue to me

Well before the above timeline started and a couple of weeks before Bailey made his exit from the club, a certain betting agency had Neeld down as favourite for the MFC coaching job.

Make of that what you will.

If true, I wonder if Collingwood will relieve him of his duties immediately like they did with Scott. I like the idea of our future coach extracting as much as he can from the Collingwood setup, as well as having a few whispers to a few quality players about joining him at the Dees

I'd go along with that I can't remember getting excited over a new coach at Melbourne, ever. Couldn't believe some of the ones we've picked over the years it was like, WTFIH?

Oh well only time will tell. Not knocking the guy he is supposed to be good but I was expecting a high profile not another assistant.

another ex teacher.....not cool

we need a hard experienced coach grrrrrrrr

Who do you want? Put the Malthouse/Roos/Matthews pipedreams aside for a second and tell me which 'experienced' coach would be a better option. I'd have Williams or Laidley if available. Then you've got Eade, Craig and ... Damien Drum?

More than happy to go along with Neeld if it's true. Obsession with having a coach who you've heard of it before is madness. May as well sign up Gerard Neesham and Ken Judge in a dream team.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
