The New Sponsors

Judging by the look of the Hawthorn jumper last night, if I was a sponsor, I wouldn't want my logo on it!

Well I guess it takes all sorts WJ!

I actually don't mind it.

But I do have a soft spot for Hawthorn.

I think it stems from my old days in the bush when my team where the hawks

But strangely not brown and yellow.

That bit was ok and I didn't mind the Tigers strip.

I agree but it would be hard to screw up a tigers jumper.

You have two good colours to play with in Black and Yellow and then a great emblem.

It is always hard to make light colours look good IMO

The gods will probably fall on me but I don't think our colours are anything flash when it comes to creating designs

and the "demon" is not a likeable emblem, society has spent 3000+ years convincing us that Devils / demons/ BB is not a good guy.

I can understand why at various times the MFC has played down the "demon"

I like everyone on here is wedded to it

however if I was starting from scratch I would not choose a " demon" as my emblem.

I have no idea if it is a factor in people following the Dees but it may have some influence if you want to adobt a team

And believe it or not I have not had a drink for 48 hours ( perhaps that is the problem )

But wyl you are wedded to the Dees.

Your blind faith clouds your judgement.

Unfortunately not everyone is of the same opinion.

I am fairly sure I could not ever like a magpie, if for no other reason I have been swooped to often by the bastards.

But Hawks, Eagles, Dogs, Tigers and Lions as emblems fit ok with me.

PS a lot of people might say I have not been well for a long time mate.

My wife wonders why anyone would have followed the Dees this long!

In order to gain a context, does anyone know if there are any other AFL clubs without a FOJ sponsor at this point? It would seem harsh to make a judgement if we are one of of a number without a sponsor. It may have been covered elsewhere and I've missed it.

Port Adelaide have a front sponsor but no sponsor for the back as yet.

I am speaking from a position of frustration only because I've paid for my jumper and I really wanted it.....

Look at it this way - since you have already paid for it, it will seem like a free jumper when you finally get it!

Demons still in talks with front of guernsey sponsors

"We are a long way down the track, but we don't want to rush such an important strategic decision," Schwab said.

It's somewhat reassuring to hear that they're significantly progressed in a deal.

Why didn't Mark Stevens just quote me...

"It may be difficult for the Demons to match the size of the Energy Watch coup.

The man behind the Energy Watch deal, which has given the Demons significant breathing space, is believed to be a Western Bulldogs supporter.

Ben Polis, a 30-year-old who kicked off the energy broking business with a $400 website in 2007, was impressed with the business networking opportunities offered by having an association with Melbourne".

Perhaps not as "uneducated" as some thought...

Did someone call you "uneducated?"

That's an odd one.

I still would like to see us get nearer the EW dollars than the Hankook dollars.

That would be $1.35m+ please.

I cannot believe how little Hankook had to pay last time...

I have faith in cameron swabb to get the best deal. If that means we have to wait till the end of the nab cup so be it. It will be a long term deal that cam would be holding out for. We could get another cheap one now but if we want a big long term deal with the chinese it will be worth a few fans waiting for jumpers. I mean it is still the offseason so get the best deal you can cameron and i have full faith you will bring a big fish to the club goodluck and GO DEES.

P.S we have the best name in the comp.

China Southwest Airlines no longer exists- it merged into Air China in 2002....so i hope our sponsors aren't China Southwest Airlines.

I'm sure they mean China Southern Airlines. They've recently signed a 3 year sponsorship deal for the Sydney Fesitval. They may be making a push into the Australian market.

China Southern's three year Sydney Festival sponsorship

Hi Demonfolk.

This morning I tuned into MMM for all of 5 seconds and heard the end of a converstaion regarding The Demons.

Seemed what I heard was that front of the jumper sponser may well be Southern China Airlines or it was still obviously being negotiated.

I am pretty sure thats what BIg Head Ed said...

That would be a pretty good effort if true.Much like the back of the jumper sponsor which was outstanding financially.

Regardless, I think Cam Schwab & the club are just getting better & better regarding amending the financial side of things at MFC.

Our business network and Mates of Melbourne (MOM online) continues to be a front runner in assistance to MFC & I am hearing this a lot.

To the Club (all of you), you continue to seek the best deals only as we should and I have a lot of faith in you as a member.

Thanks for turning it all around and keep on truckin Demons.

Lets hit the scoreboard next!

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
