I am disturbed by the 40% of Landers that want to plonk a massive rotting redwood right on the front garden...

I am disturbed at the idiocy of 60% of Demonlanders towards a man who is in the top 10 best full forwards in Asutralia is a flumouxing disgrace. Pull the sheets from over your eyes people, once a gun always a gun, once an idiot always an idiot, people don't realise that he is another Allen Jackovich, take a walk down memory lane, doesn't that convince you enough

today i was lucky enough to be part of a foundation heros event type thing, which was a pre match and post match kind of deal, pretty cool, in the pre match chris connely said "fevola could kick 36 goald this week and the mfc would still not even contemplate drafting him."

You're partially right, but tell me, how many flags did Allen Jakovich win again..?

Exactly what Lyon said on tv, and Schwab said in a prematch function today.

Sounds pretty emphatic to me.

Thank god.

but will they be making the decisions in 2 months time?

They won't be hiring a coach whose strategy would be to recruit Fev.

Bottom line.

Your a defeatist, & a do nothing, sit on hands, rather than take a chance. Fev may, or may not be an answer, (temp), and the best you can do is act like a scared kid, and throw up insults trying to be bold.

Your a long way short.

There is simply no way the football club with the weakest senior (and indeed middle) playing group in the league, who collectively provide effectively no leadership to a talented group of young players, would ever consider drafting a player who would be the second oldest player in the club, provides no leadership skills and has an ordinary behavioural history.

The only consideration might be if he could bring with him a (admitedly far lesser) replacement for Pia Miller, sadly lost in the preseason draft to Richmond, but there is even doubt about that.

Hopefully they will be hiring a coach whose mission is to win as many games possible in 2012 with a mind to developing a team that will contest for a flag in the years after 2012.

Hopefully this coach will assess what the MFC playing group requires and, if they decide Fev would add value, would draft him.

Nope.

Across at least the last 2 years we have had one of the best conversion rates in the league for Goals per Inside 50.

That is not our issue; our issue is getting the supply into our forward 50 - Fevola will not help that.

Except, granted, when we are on a fast break after a turn over because we might have a target to kick to for a change (we know fev wont bother running around outside 50 regardless of the state of play) But still no.

If you're sitting back soaking up pressure, your opposition has 60% of the play with most of it being played in your defensive half, and you are essentially playing "on the counter attack", you are bound to have less inside 50s (and genuine goal kicking opportunities) but perhaps a better chance of converting those opportunities when the ball does go inside 50.

I hate how much time is given to "off-field" issues (aka "not football") at football clubs. If a guy like Fev rocks up to training when he's supposed to and performs in games when he is supposed to, getting drunk occasionally and making a fool of himself isn't that big a deal.

The guy is a fool, don't be surprised when he acts like one. The guys is also a gun full forward, don't be surprised when he plays like one.

I don't think I am an idiot for thinking Fevola would be seen as deadwood inside of three years.

I want to win a flag.

Fevola does not a flag bring.

I happen to think we're unlikely to win a flag while any of our current players are still playing in the AFL. Would I then be justified in sacking the lot of them and starting over with 18 year olds like the Gold Coast/Western Sydney, but without all the AFL concessions? Or is it a little less black & white than that?

That's pretty flippant...

I believe the young players that we have will be in a position to win a flag.

I don't think the timeframe will suit a 30 year old body with 12 years of AFL in it.

I believe that we have to fast track the development of a few, or trade in, to establish that forwardline that might deliver a flag.

I also see the presence of a Fevola as a hindrance to that development to win that flag.

I just don't understand the mind set that we only play blokes who will be around when we (apparently inevitably) win the flag.

It isn't just that.

If you are not contributing to a the MFC winning a flag then I don't want you.

Contribution can be subjective.

I wanted us to do a u-turn on JMac when Bruce did a runner. He won't be around for a flag but he will positively affect those that would be around.

Kane Cornes might be worth pursuing. Simon Black. Luke Power.

Fevola will not bring that to the MFC.

So why did we go after Hale. He would have been overtaken before we were top 4, and would then be out the door backwards.

Because there are stepping stones to get to the fountain. Those stones help us get there.

An experienced full forward who can take the main defender off watts or cook, would be most welcome.

Lets look at someone for 2 years, thats all, and we only need one. So our boys will get the second defender or not be double teamed. Barry Hall would be handy.

It doesn't mattter, IF it's Not FEV.

Leadership. Development.

Fev would not offer either, he's a boofhead bogan who has already struck out at 2 clubs. It's irrelevant because we wouldn't be stupid enough to take him anyway. If we did we would deserve everything we got when it inevitably went pear-shaped.

What actually went pear-shaped at Carlton and Brisbane? I'm talking on the field, not some made up rubbish that is hand-fed to you by football "reporters". I'm talking about the stuff that wins and loses you games of football.

Hale would have been great, we went hard for him & so did Hawthorn....Hale & Fevola are 2 very different stories.

Yes Fev is kicking goals in the VFL right now, But would his mindset last seasons in the AFL at high discipline??

This Club needs to build a culture not dissimiliar to the one Hawthorn has evolved...Which was devised in the early 60's by John Kennedy via direct Contact with Norm Smith.

Does Brendan Fevola fit into that culture....I do not think so...We do not just want Bums on seats for the Afternoon Matinee...This is not Clown School.

This is the Melbourne Football Club. I want the elusive 13th Flag.

He was a selfish player who was a bad influence on the kids in the team (particularly at Carlton). If he didn't have a negative effect on the playing group do you really think the Blues & Lions would have ditched him?

You and I have no way of ever knowing what kind of influence Fevola had on other Carlton players. I assume you are judging Fevola on a few incidents that were all over the TV, papers and radio when the guy did what almost every other footballer has done and will do, he just caught in the act.

There is almost no doubt that Fevola is of below average intelligence and has made some bad decisions in his life. But you know what, I've seen him play some unbelievably good football that can help his side win games. That's the part I'm interested in.

By the way, why would we ever take up a trade with an opposition club if the club clearly is happy to move that player on? There must be a reason, eh?

Interesting how this vote has swung around after Fevola kicked a couple bags. Short shortsightedness and hopes of instant gratification are alive and well!

I would be happy for Fev to get another crack at the AFL, somewhere else. Then I could enjoy watching Frawls run off him to kick a couple of goals whilst some of my fellow supporters wipe the egg off their faces.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
