David Schwatz said on SEN, Melbourne should do every thing they can to get Neil Balme back to the club as the Director of footy.

We have seen what a great job he has done at Geelong.

Agree?

Would he come back though ?? maybe hes got a good memory ;)

Neil Balme would be great...I don't think he likes Joe Gutnick much but he always speaks highly of his time at Melbourne, as he did this morning with KB.

Is worth considering

He has proven to be great at his job at Geelong.

He also did a great job at Collingwood too, but I'm certain he has performed the same role that Connolly occupies at both clubs.

I think the most pertinent issue is filling the 2 current vacancies.

Unless Balme is to step into a foreign role, I don't think he'll be joining the club anytime soon.

Prodigal Son stuff.

I'm not all that up to date on what Balme did at Collingwood or Geelong, but one of those clubs has truckloads of cash and the other had truckloads of good players.

I'd like to see what he could do at a struggling club before I would consider him a good get for Melbourne. Remember Balme can do no wrong in the eyes of the media he's a favourite son with all the right background; unfairly sacked coach, great to interview, likeable chap etc, etc.

See if he can get North out of the mess they're in, remember Eugene Arocca was great at Collingwood but he's taking North nowhere; except maybe to another State.

North is doing a bit better than us. I love Balme - history making premiership coach at Norwood and a good footy thinker. Would love him in that role.

North is doing a bit better than us? In what area; certainly not finance or membership? Perhaps they have us on the field at the moment but i would say that that situation will change over the next couple of years, but their membership and finances won't.

Yes I think you're right e25.....

But wouldn't a new coach mean a new appointment to Footy Operations as well.

Especially given what has or hasn't (allegedly) happened already in that particular department.

Oh, and I think Balme would be a good choice.

I have it on very good authority that he has already been approached by mfc, and I highly doubt you will see him back there. He is extremely committed to geelong

What about Daniher from the Weagles, does the same job and must be doing something right there. Melbourne background.

Enough water has now flowed under the bridge to bring him to the club without threatening anyone

I think he would be a great choice. If his family is settled in Perth, I can'see why he'd uproot them again to come back here. You reckon he'd be happy where he is

If we can't get Neil then maybe a lot of Tiger Balm might help??

Why do we have to recycle? We want to find and select the best (that we can afford) for all positions. I trust the board (sorry, that should read 'hope the board'...) find the right candidates looking forward, without their eyes fixed on the rear view mirror.

Sentiment will create more sediment. Time for something that looks like success.

Pretty sure Geelong could pay more for him than we could. Hard to sway someone with the same job for less money.

There wasn't much Balmey didn't swallow when he worked for us last time .

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
