Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Tomorrow is the 20th anniversary of the great man kicking 11 goals 8 against North Melbourne.

It ranks as one of the greatest individual performances by a Melbourne player in history.

22 kicks, 14 marks, 11 goals, 8 behinds, 2 out on the full, 3 Brownlow votes and a $750 fine for umpire abuse.

He had 10 goals to 3 quarter time and should have ended with at least 14, as he missed some very easy shots.

Here are 2 of the not so easy goals.

Remember some of the greatest goals ever kicked for the club, remember the extra 5000 he brought through the gates, remember the goal celebrations.

Remember the fat arse, laziness, filthy temper and tantrums as well.

Never forget he was but a shooting star who never burnt as brightly as he should have.

In my eyes, my favourite ever footballer x 100,000.

Here's some trips down memory lane.

His last public appearance as a Melbourne player. Looks quite fit, but about to embark on a summer of destruction.

At a time when this football club is on its knees (again), take a moment tomorrow to reflect on the greatest showman this football club has known.

Happy Allen Jakovich Day and thanks to Supermercado/Demonblog for coming up with the concept. I can only take credit for the date.

It must also be close to the first anniversary of that massive win we had last year against the Swans.

Amazing - 12 months is a long time in football.

July 25 was the Sydney win.

I think my favourite stat from above is Jako's 22 kicks lead to 21 shots on goal. What was his other kick? One that fell short?

took a speccy 45 from goal at the Punt Rd end and passed to Brett Lovett who was unmanned in the goal square in the middle of his 3rd quarter masterclass.

that in itself was the biggest shock of the day.

My favorite memory of jako was seeing the number plate Jako13 on my hammer on the south eastern. I was driving my first car an old 1976 model Corolla.... Basically a shitbox. He zoomed by! Obviously floored it to catch up - hit 135 without even getting close to him - jako must have been pushing the 150 mark... Probably late for training! When I redlined the corolla, over heated and had to wait for the engine to cool down enough to work again! Yes I buggered my first car but I found out how much of a hoon jako was! Him and our new coach... My two all time favourite players. Lead us well Toddles

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
