Thought Jeremy Howe was very impressive in a dark day. He marked brilliantly and did a couple of good things at ground level. Jack Watts too, can hold his head up high. Sad to see Brad struggling so badly at present. Seems to be totally lacking in confidence, pace, you name it.

TV commentary had it right. We're crying out for a big bodied full forward who can make a real contest against those defenders. Hopefully Cook and Fitpatrick can grow into the players we're looking for.

Howe's been great.

Chuck Cook in at FF, I reckon. Two players who can take a mark, who need and deserve time in the side.

Cook deserves a game soon, but he is listed at 81kgs so he wouldn't be able to hold down FF for a game. He'd get monstered.

Jamar full forward/ruck, switching with Big Max Gawn.

Martin ruck/follower.

This should help us a litte in the "big-bodied forward" regard.

EDIT: Apparently I don't know the difference between the AFL's second tallest player and a dude who can't get on the park.

He's a great mark. Probably one thing he needs to do is realise when he isn't under so much pressure and just take the mark easily out in front instead of springing way up high and under the footy.

But he springs up really well and uses it well (and intelligently).

It's such a shame that he comes in a looks a much more natural mark than guys we've had up forward (Bate, Dunn) for years.

Fitzy can't even get on the park, let alone indicate that he can hold down a KP.

We need to recurit much like Essendon a Stuart Crameri. We need to look to VFL or WAFL and get a 23/24/25 yr old hard bodied, hard nosed crash and bash forward. Bate was supposed to be this player, dunn was supposed to be this player. for top 20 draft picks, both have let us down. Cook or Fitzpatrick do not look like these players, they will complement this hard nosed forward that we recruit.

don't know of any that are running around the state leagues at the mo, at least not off the top of my head.

We've drafter 3 really good key position forwards over the years all inside the top 30 that should now be ready to fill this role for us.

Luke Molan

Nick Smith

Aaron Rogers

Oh wait a minute......

But in all seriousness Jesse White is someone who I reckon we should take a look at. Possibly even a Scott Gumbleton if our medical staff are confident they could get his body right?

But onto the main point of this thread sorry. I was impressed woth Howe again. One of only about 5 or 6 players who I thought could hold their heads high.

Hopefully we see him play the majority of this season in the seniors. I'd be keen for him to play VFL finals also though.

Edit: Thought I should mention Howe.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
