I won't change: Trengove

Love this quote:

"You don't want to see anyone outdoing you so you want to be striving to become better all the time. It's examples like that that make you strive even harder and work harder at training to become a better player. I suppose he has kicked that into me this year" regarding Dustin Martin.

The Kid is all class! so impressive both on and off the field

When watching him I keep thinking Bartel - looks to be a very good mark for his height, tough at the ball, good skills and a goal kicking midfielder. Funnily, like Bartel and Ablett, will always seemingly be looked at as second to Scully no matter what he does.

he is definitely more of a highlight machine than Scully, better-rounded too

Funny isn;t it - I see nothing of Bartel in the way that JT plays. The player I compare him most to is Luke Hodge. He has the solid build, the controlled agression (although Hodge was a bit uncontrolled at times), and can really have an impact forward, middle, or back. I appreciate Bartel can do that too, but I lean toward Hodge.

Either way I'm happy!

I actually think he is very much like Bartel too. He's a great mark for his size, tough and can kick a goal. Perfect player!

Believe me this young bloke is a natural leader and top quality individual.

I have a hard time not believing it, really.

I must say I love this kid and I too see Bartel in him, On the weekend tho a bit more hodge due to his kamakazie attack on the ball and more aggression than he had previously shown.

I have always been against co captains, but if we hold onto Scully and they named them co captains I would be happy.

More pace than Bartel.

Handballs more than Hodge.

Has been compared to Hird, but he has a lot more strength.

I'm ecstatic that he's the first Jack Trengove.

(Or is he?)

Yeah look, Bartel may be the closest... but he's actually slightly different from all of the above examples. He actually takes a hanger pretty well too. Maybe a bit of Buckley about him. To be honest the more I watch he and Scully the more I think Bailey may well NOT have to be the innovator we all want him to be. These two are blossoming already to produce a certain kind of footy that's their own. Trengove with smart decision making in the clinches, and extraordinary skill and level-headedness, and Scully with some VERY interesting habits starting to become clear. People say of him he's Cousins-like, which I personally have never seen. Others say Judd with his up and under kick, and extreme pace. I don't agree with that one as he's got nowhere near the size and contested bal winning ability... who does? He's starting to look a little bit like Swan to me as well with his massive engine and cruising speed around packs, and ability to predict both where the ball will be and where the opposition WON'T be. Only he's a better kick and is quicker, and has what will become the best handball in the league.

We're on the cusp of seeing an identity that not only MFC hasn't seen, but that the AFL hasn't seen. In terms of gameplan, we might follow the Geelong pattern (no complaints here), but the character with which it's executed, you can already see, is going to be VERY new and unpredictable. Easy to coach too. :D

Trengove is on Before the Game (channel 10) in about 5-10 mins

Ill watch only because I love the guy.

However, Before the Game is by far the worst show on television. The same jokes every week for 3 years, Lehmo and Mick Molloy along with Andy Maher and Dave Hughes all who know notihng about footy.

Just cannot stand it!

I enjoyed his look of smiling resignation when the question inevitably was asked.....

Very well handled. We don't see much up here but his media performances are rather entertaining  !!!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
