You may be right, but I don't know whether that would work. As to whether we extend him, well one win does not make the decision. It took alot of bad performances for me to decide I didn't want him any longer, and whilst this week has helped his cause, it won't in the longrun if it is a one off.

Showed a lot of passion tonight. Was really good to see.

Really needs to guide this team to some consistency before he is safe though.

Must play the same style of football against the pies and beyond.

I've been a supporter of Bailey, but i have to say Dean lost me a couple of weeks ago.

This victory has brought me back, to keeping him in some sort of position(what sort of position, i don't know) but some sort of position...

it may just be the winning feeling talking, but i tend to agree, Bailey really has put the future of the team ahead of himself and his record. Other coaches would be scared to name as many debutantes and young players as he does, nearly every week.

Also i've probably called for Malthouse to take over next year, but after his comments about Maric this week, i couldn't stand to see the [censored] in Melbourne colours.

If MFC sack Bailey this year, It's posible that he may never get another job in the AFL with his record...

He's got a fixture to work with and he grabbed a win from the 'unwinnable three'. I maintain if he got two wins (as of mid-last week) into the bye he'd see out the rather favourable end of season. No wins and he would have been gone. Now he has one, and it's probably the unanticipated one. Collingwood next week is tough, but then Freo at the G and Richmond are both winnable for sure - and heading into the bye with six wins to play Port twice, West Coast here, Richmond and Gold Coast here is a very good thing.

Whatever happens he absolutely shouldn't be sacked mid-season. It would de-stabilise the club a lot and I can't see any positives coming out of it.

If we get access to a Malthouse or a Roos we'd be crazy not to pursue them at season's end, but till then Bailey stays.

Plus we all know that Bailey will keep a focus on developing the team. He's not a selfish coach and would never sacrifise team development for his own gain (unlike that shmuk who coached us in the latter part of 2006? was it, who kept playing the oldies instead of developing the youngsters when he was caretaker coach for 7-8 rounds)

Interestingly after 3-4 years of being a robot, tonight was the first time I saw Dean show a bit of emotion in the box (and on the bench). Clearly the win meant a lot to him - and kudos to him for getting the 4 points while playing a collection of untried kids. Takes guts.

Is he the right man to lead the MFC to success? I don't know, probably not IMO. But if we show some form in the back end of the year he may just get another crack at it. Tonight was a good start.

Bailey is trying to get the team to play like this every week but it's the players that decide when they actually play like this.

Remember the game for Jimmy last year when we won in a canter then when there was no emotion in the ensuing games we went back to our old self.

Remember the Crows game a month ago when we won by 97 points after copping it in the media all week, then we came out and played like girls against the Roos.

We seem to get ourselves up for QB every year and then fall away.

It's too early to extend Bailey but if we play finals,we give him another year.

The 2 Jordies,Scull,JT,Grimes,Tappy,Jamar and a firing Davey make a huge difference to this team but Bailey hasn't had these guys on the paddock.

Get another 40 games into this team and look out.

Um. No. Not keep Bailey. Give it a few more weeks. Personally I'd like to see us get past the hump of 8-13-1 from last year. When we show we improved on it, even by just 1 or 2 wins, then I'll be all for us retaining him.

Big step in the right direction tonight. There was half a dozen reasons why it was huge... Friday night footy, 5 new kids, big injury list, media speculation getting close to fever pitch, and the biggest thing... Bombers were in many peoples' top 4. The odds were HEAPED against us. And even the bookies agreed. They had us paying 4.50 at 1/2 time.

So well done Bails. But his job is a long way from safe just yet.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
