Gun.

Doesn't want to fall into the Jurrah-trap of trying to take a screamer every contest, but he looked quite good.

Can't see any reason why we would play Bate, Dunn or Petterd (on current form) any time soon.

The best thing I saw from him ( and I saw it a few times) is he looked to put a good hard shepherd on after he had handballed or when running near. Most run for the recieve, he goes for the shepherd. So good to see that.

We kicked to Howe from kick ins a lot early and he managed to either mark or make a contest. I was very impressed.

Perhaps all these injuries have been a long term blessing in disguise for us. We've uncovered a bit of talent in our depth.

I'm very happy right now. Had low expectations. Watts' hanger in the last! Ah love beating those $^$ts!

He looked like he totally belonged there. As did Nicholson & Evans & Strauss & Gawn. And they will only get better.

I thought his skills once the ball hit the deck were pretty good too.

Howe good is Howe.

Sorry, I just couldn't help myself, I'm giddy with glee

Looks a likely sort. A couple of nice things off the ball too.

Now we have some depth to call on, this creates a nice bit of pressure for spots. Fantastic! Evans and nicholson, 2 boys who are not worried to put the head over it, and will run it...

ADD the big 2, Trenners and Sculls, and then the jigsaw takes shape... Green goes forward, Out of the Mids cause we have some Leadership types in the gyts to rely on... Beamer/ Jones/ McKenzie/ Trenners/ Scull/ Sylv' inj/ Gys/

A good balanced structure.

Howe isn't just a marking forward, his 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc efforts are extremely good, I've been hanging out to see this kid play and he was worth the wait. Petterd, Dunn and Bate will be feeling a bit nervous after seeing his game I reckon...

I saw him play a couple of games in Tassie last year and was amazed that we drafted him.

Really showed me tonight. Really loved his work off the ball too.

The thing Howe did tonight others we have tried do not is that he lays tackles that actually stick...

On top of the fact he creates marking contest and shepards....

Ricky Bobby please take note..

Wow so great to see another player with a strong debut.

In my opinion, Jeremy Howe and that Nicholson kid were two of the biggest positives to come out of this game. Two first gamers who were not overawed by the situation and were able to display good footskills and a real willingness to do the "team things," as they say.

He's been compared to Robbo quite a number of times; but he seems to have a lot more tricks up his sleeve.

That said, I'm not getting carried away. But the potential he has is enormous

Good first game, shoes potential

To me he looks a bit like a Petterd, but 7cm taller, a more reliable kick and much better tackling/1%ers/agression.

Really really like the look of him.

I still maintain we've got plenty of talent in the forward line: Jurrah, Howe, Watts, Petterd, Green with Cook to come through... we just desperately need a big bulky tall and a quality small forward to complete the mix

But why has nobody mentioned his goal yet? I agree with the rest, but he also has quick hands and can crumb. It was a hell of a snap with no time and no room to maneuver.

I think we have a winner here. I can absolutely see why we took him second round.

People only remember the old, full forward, mark it (usually via hanger in case of very old Robbo) and goal Robbo.

He best year (maybe 02 or 03) was when he played at CHF and was just a work horse. That's what I saw from Howe. Strong leads, backs himself to jump for a mark and then just as importantly can recover very well, get a bit of space and deliver well. It's early days, but I just imagine him and Watts been a CHF combo. Still room for Jurrah and a Petterd/Dunn deep if they play with the same commitment and energy as Howe.

Yup he was good suddenly more targets up forward and if he takes a mark, looks like he wants too, then welcome you forward!!

You've been watching Dean Bailey too much. A masterpiece of understatment.
