'Scully talks'

Says enough...i believe him. Would be very hard to look Stynesy in the eye and lie.

Happy Birthday Tom.

Would have thought that Stynes even has to broach the subject ought to raise eyebrows ?

Im not convinced of anything yet....too much dancing around words for my real liking.

Not sure why he would want to stay anyway to be honest...

Why would you with the culture we produce?

I love the MFC but it's the most painful relationship I've ever been involved in..

Alistair Lynch was down the other week, was he Not? What happened? Nothing yet?

Remember the unsettling nature of what happened last year to Geelong, with the Ablett thing, and the Bomba thing.

Not good for the players, and the team.

That's exactly why he needs to stay...The "Handbags" got their culture sorted, as we will.

If i was Scully I'd leave. At the moment we are playing like GWS with half the payroll

On ya bike then. It's one less bunch of posts about our club heading for an apocalypse that we have to sift through. Barrack for Collingwood, they seem to be winning most weeks.

why hasnt he signed.....he has been injured.

whats the excuse...to concentrate on his footy?

i said last year when campbell brown did his PCL that if he doesnt sign now he never will

scully has the same smell........

I hope he isn't basing his final decision on our progress ;)

Stating the bleeding obvious, but we absolutely must sign Scully. He is the type of player to sort out our culture issues.

Seems to do whatever it takes to get the best out of himself, hell he decided when he was 14 that he wasn't going to drink, these are the type of players we need at the club.

Yes, this season has had its terribly disappointing moments but...

The ease with which Melbourne fans become pathetic, hand-wringers continues to astonish me.

We are not a big club, not at the moment. But you don't become a big club with the defeatist, pathetic attitude some on here show at the first sign of some gloom.

Success isn't linear and we coming from a ways back.

We will get to the summit. We might get there later rather than sooner, with different faces in different places, but we will get there.

Oh hear, hear to you, it is becoming hard to read the forum at the moment for the level of depressive malaise that hangs over it. Lighten up, please.

Clearly my request for levity was not directed at you RPFC,

Nothing in that article, the journo obviously needed to meet a deadline for weekend money so printed a nothing article.

Jimmy is honest and from the article was simply answering a question along the line of "what did you say to scully" and jimmy obviously replied.

"just be honest" and that is Jimmy's way, no playing games. Be honest up front and then he know where he stands and know what he has to work with.

If scully told him on confidence he was thinking or leaving etc, jimmy would have accepted the answer but also start working to retain him.

Since that hasn't happened I believe scully has not a decision to leave and simply doing what he said he was going to do at the start of the season.

Here's hoping. I am certain the biggest problem this season is that expectations were set too high. 2012 is starting to look more like the season where we will see the start of some big improvements.

Scully's re-signing is the club's most important issue. Without him we're in strife.

And then next year more excuses will be rolled out and it will be "oh we were getting ahead of ourselves, it's 2013 we should be focussing on." Where does it end with this club?

if culture is his driving motivation going to GWS should be his last choice. Unlikely to have any sort of culture to speak of for the duartion of Scullys career

Everyone's worried about GWS but what if other clubs have been in his (or his managers) ear? What if Richmond or Collingwood for example have made queries? It's not unthinkable and you would think he would seriously consider an offer from either of these clubs.

Yep, lets set our sights somewhere near the bottom or below average every year. That way at least we'll never disappoint ourselves and usually end up somewhere thereabouts. Also pick up more and more early draft picks once they come back on line so we can rebuild on our earlier years of rebuilding

I was referring to expectations of top 4 material and 'the next superpower'. Everybody has different expectations of course, but some were ridiculous. I for one - considering the draw - would have expected about 10 wins at least. We have 3.5 so far, so certainly not out of the question. We have played poorly in our losses though, so I agree that we shouldn't be looking for excuses. Bailey will no doubt be booted as the coach is always the first to cop the fallout.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
