How can anyone justify Watts being in the team before Ricky Petterd? Bizarre.

Petterd is clearly double the player at this stage and has shown he can take a better contested mark etc. There is no logical decision to have Watts in the team before Petterd other than of course for player development reasons.

I am not going to try "Freak"

Sometimes I get the feeling the FD department lacks the courage to drop him.

There is no other player that would have been in the side this long for such limited return.

I think that Watts may play well on the bigger ground. He likes to get around the ground abit and use his tank to rack up a few numbers. If he can do this, and then drift forward again regularly, he may just be in for a big game.

I will stick my neck out and predict he will kick at least 3 goals and 20 odd touches.

I hope you are right.

Is it out 100 mm or 200mm

Not as good as 1 foot or 2 is it!

I might be slightly high on lots of drugs (of the pain killer variety!), but even in this state I can understand why Petterd and Watts have nothing to do with each others' place in the side. They are not competing for the same position. Petterd is a third tall, he is not a CHF. If anything, Watts' competition is Bate, possibly Newton (yes that made me lol!).

If you want Petterd in the team, you need to drop Dunn. He has been in average form, and only his defensive game is saving him for now. I'd suggest that another ordinary game from him and Petterd will be back in the team.

well put, having said that watts cant rest on the knowledge of who his competition is

he is in the 18.. LeCras that is.

And that means ??

If we lose then the pressure will continue to build on DB (as will happen with every lose we have) and I am sure the MFC board will continue to question the so called "game Style". Interesting times ahead and will be interesting to see what happens either way.

Which team is more likely to be advantaged by a heavy track? Apparently they are having their biggest downpour in months in Perth according to DemonsHQ's tweets.

I live around the corner from Subi, this is the most rain we've had since probably August... And I washed my car yesterday too, but these conditions if they continue should suit us...

If you want to check them out, Jones just tweeted that they're on their way to Subi now for a session.

we need a tall forward, if its watts ,then play him. you dont pick your forwards to your opponents backs, its the other way round.

You missed the point. If a small forward line is the order of the day then you don't have to play a tall forward. Carlton beat the Gold Coast in the Suns' first game using small forwards to create the attacking moves. Good coaching by Dean Bailey IMO.

Lecras - Frawley/bartram

Lynch - Rivers/rivers

Kennedy - Garland/frawley

Darling - Tapscott/garland

is how i think the match ups may go, but darling could give tappy the run around, will be interesting to see, bartram could line up on lecras which could change the line ups, definately have a tall forward line which is suited to our defence i believe.

The combination of Cox and Kerr is great competition for Jamar and Moloney.

Morton should get in our best this week. he looked rusty last week with his skills but was involved. he will take confidence out of that game plus It's a big ground which will suit him.

we need big games out of our runners. Jones, Morton and Trengove.

I think we need Sylvia to spend more time closer to goals for us to kick a winning score tonight. I'd really like to see Watts kick multiple goals too - he almost had a break out game against freo at subi last year, if he had kicked straight he might have won us the game, and gained the confidence to take his game up a notch

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
