The feeling is quite mutual. Understand what I say and not "read" to use your words. the way you address me is what I would define as condescending, with all due respect. I am not a child and I had, at last testing, an I.Q. of 145 and don't need your "school teacher" approach (more waffle ?) Now you have explained in more detail what you actually meant by your defining moment,(been more concise) I see what you were trying to say. but I will stick with my "waffle". You may call it waffle, some others may and some may not. BY the way I was awarded a 91 % mark in English Level 3 at Matriculation College, which at that point in time was the second highest mark at Hobart Technical College. A long while ago admittedly, but nevertheless a high achievement..

Sorry you took it that way... it was not intended to be condescending at all... just direct. I thought it was fairly apparent that what was intended by defining moment, was that it is a moment that will define the course for the rest of the season. Anyway, at least we are both clear on that now.

As far as school results and IQ tests go, I don't really place much importance in those - after repeating year 12 (called Matriculation back then) and passing just English, I have since managed to go on to have a reasonably successful career as a Technical Writer (now with Oracle) with absolutely no formal qualifications. I always tell my children to be smart rather than intelligent... although they seem to be quite intelligent despite my "discouragement" - must be their mother's influence :-)

Not sure .. Haven't heard from you before ?? Don't believe we were talking about anything in particular.. Just having a joke with a couple of members.. Lightening up a little that's all.I am not too sure what a really "smart" person is sometimes. Take care... Go Dees.

I must say in wyl's defense that up until recently I thought your name was pig too. Easy mistake as any monkey can see it's very easy to confuse. I thought someone with an IQ of 145 would have been able to use their brilliant mind to figure that one out.

Are you punking Demonland? You have me in tears with your need for attention.

Hate to one-up you all, but I got a 160 on the Australia's National IQ Test last year hosted by none other than Eddie Everywhere.

i was just happy to survive my teens & 20's to be honest!! It got a bit crazy at times....but i always managed to find the 'G on a saturday arvo to watch a very mediocre Demon display (The Bullring was always firing though in the old smokers stand)

Yes I went through the Matriculation bit for one year and decided I had to work because my mum was ill and money was tight in my family at the time. I worked as a Credit Manager for over thirty years 10 of which I spent with Mayne Nickless and more recently at the ATO as a Taxation Compliance Officer..(I guess I will be even less popular now) I am recently retired. My three children have done very well for themselves I am happy to say, but alas, two are St.Kilda Supporters (I did something wrong there) I think I have come to a defining moment on this site and I may have to mellow a little as I feel I may have been a tad aggressive or something like that.. being a dedicated demon can be testing at times..

I am not here to be punking Demonland.. I don't need attention. 145 is not genius level.. far from it.. you are way, way off the mark.. I do not claim to have a brilliant mind. I also do not read minds thus the reason why I didn't at the time figure out what wyl intended. Sorry, Summer Biease. I thought I had heard the last of this sort of stuff since I posted a reply on the matter. I doubt the monkeys at Melbourne Zoo could see what you claim they can..When is all this crap going to stop !! Welcome to Demonland ...I don't think..

You learn something new every Monday.

I couldn't agree more. And as you are a school teacher I hope you do. I am learning very quickly that it is a good thing this is an "unofficial" site of the Melbourne Football Club or we would have even less Financial members of the genuine AFL Melbourne Football Club. Some of you need to take a step back and think about what you are supposed to be on here for. To promote and discuss the subject topic or hang crap on new members to the site.??. the worst kind of humour is sarcasm and the worst kind of comedians are those who laugh at their own poor attempts at humour ...e.g. Biese for one.. I absolutely assure you You have no effect on me whatsoever..I am just disillusioned by the site and disappointed it has such long term members on it that deter new members with their attitudes.. The best, most polite replies I have had have been from the Rookies... and a small number of Older members.. Good night..

You know what it is? It's the curvature of the "p" and the "g" on the other side of the small "l" which makes it appear an "i"

I have good eyesight but it is like some kind of eye trickery. Surely you can see it.

I call for a poll on this. I know a great deal of folk here would have made that mistake..

You should have gone to bed a couple hours earlier...

Honestly, go back and read some of your posts, try to understand where others are getting their impressions from and move on.

We have.

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe
