Something worth celebrating, even though the competition hasn't been top-shelf.

Maybe five years since we were this high?

2006 we got in the finals. seems so long ago.

Also we'll stay there for another week (unless Bulldogs beat Freo in Freo then we are 8th)

That won't happen.

Read carefully...

It

is

round

4.

WAY too early in the season to care about ladder position, other teams have already had byes, no point "celebrating" this.

Don't be such a negative nancy. No-one's claiming it means anything, it just is what it is. We're in the 8.

Calls to "celebrate" that we're in the 8 after 4 rounds of bye effected football are just flat out silly, especially when you consider how we've played so far, it's beyond meaningless.

Given we've won 2.5 of 4 games, it's pretty likely we'd still be in the eight if there were no byes.

We've won 8 of 16 quarters

Now that is one stat that is worth looking at. Bailey kept crapping on for the last 2 years about winning quarters

Looks like we are actually starting to do that

Thanks Dean Bailey. I'm sure we're getting in the players head. After 6 years of spending only consecutive weeks with a spoon of the wooden variety you'd think supporters would be able to enjoy any success, but nope stuie is here to shut every one down.

Cheers buddy.

Weagles, Adleaide @ G, then North mean the next month contains three winnable games that would start to make our position in the 8 more secure. Win all 3 and we'll hit the Saints, Carlton, Essendon and the Pies with some confidence and momentum...

Great draw this year.

I would also argue that calls to criticise Bailey and the FD for this up and down start is 'beyond meaningless' considering the AFL season is a marathon and that we expected (well the brighter ones) another up and down year from this (even) young(er than last year) team.

I mean, we aren't playing great footy.

We aren't a great footy team.

Get over it.

5.5 - 1.5 would be an incredible position to be in, be 2nd or 3rd on the ladder, it is doable

To use video game parlance, we have got through "Level 1" ( the first 4 games) with a score, 2.5 wins, slightly above expectations. We now come to level 2 (Weagles to North)... then Level 3... long season, etc... but we're doing OK.

Mate, if we're in the 8 after round 10 the beers are on me, just think you need to look at the circumstances so far.

Right now we honestly need to look at winning at least 2 and possibly all 3 of the next 3 games. Wet Coke are the obvious possible loss, they're playing really well, but Adelaide and Norf are both highly beatable right now.

If we drop two or god forbid all three the finals are a write-off.

We have been poor and we have taken 10 points from a possible 16...

Circumstances are telling me that there is plenty of improvement to be had, and that the players, while being poor, have not torpedoed their season, they have found a way to stay in games and found a way to, despite their poor form, draw, win, and win.

Listening to Aaron Davey it became apparent that they shall be setting another goal for the next set of games from Weagles (Rd 5) through to the next Bye (Rd 16).

If we can win 5 of these 10 games we should still be in the hunt.

Gonna have to improve...

Think it's Demitriou that has kept our season alive so far... If we start hitting decent teams with our current form we could be in trouble

Very handy draw, could be the thing that helps us find our feet this year, let's hope

I think the Fat Controller has been very impressed with the Jim Stynes led recovery, so we have been given some chances from above. Small but there...North Melbourne on the other hand.....

Yeah, I don't see the need to care where we're on the ladder at round 4. I'll wait until round 15 to get excited at any possible top-8 positioning.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
