Given how bad our midfield is, and how easily theirs brushed us aside in the practice game, im extremely concerned. Lets just hope their lack of forward options makes it hard for them to convert.

if we loose i think there will be heat on bailey & his future...big time heat. Same goes for the Gold Coast game.

Lions without JB, Staker & Drummond (not to mention Rischetelli & Brennan) are a far inferior proposition than with them. Basically it leaves them with relitivley inexperienced youngsters and a handfull of longer term players. If we loose it shows that Voss has got his less fancied talent to preform better than bailey who has an abundacne of top picks.

Gold Coast are all young, with a handfull of stars. If we loose or the watts/trengoves/bennels are shown up by their younger players then it would show that our players havent developed in the last few years - which would be worrying too

but he's referring to our midfield specifically, I don't think our midfield lineup is any different this Sunday to what it was in the praccy, when it was absolutely creamed. Rich in particular just did as he wanted. Huge week for Nathan Jones

Correct, form memory the missing players were either forwards or defenders. The mids were absolutely slaughtered at the clearances in particular and there was no tackling pressure, not dissimilar to last weekend.

Hopefully not but the Hawthorn match was eerily similar to the Hawthorn practice match a few weeks earlier.

The bystander effect or Genovese syndrome is a social psychological phenomenon that refers to cases where individuals do not offer any means of help in an emergency situation to the victim when other people are present. The probability of help has in the past been thought to be inversely related to the number of bystanders; in other words, the greater the number of bystanders, the less likely it is that any one of them will help.

Obviously has a different application with a team of football players, but there were far too many players that seemed to have the attitude that "someone else will stand up" on the weekend. We a need a team where all players will themselves into the game when things are going wrong (either as a team or individually), not a team of players who just want to play hot potato with any form of responsibility.

and the thing that will wake you up in the middle of the night tonight is the realisation is that this 'syndrome' has been a hallmark of MFC sides since god-knows-when. It's pure weakness.

It may just be that Hawthorn are much too good for us in most positions

and their poor conversion kept us in it up to half time.

Perhaps they still are a 10+ goal better side than Melbourne.

Having said that The lions are not as good as us but they have troubled us in the last three games.

You'd be welcome mate, although the Eagles have won 2/2 and all of a sudden you'd think they were a chance at the flag if you listened to their fans (who have recently come back out of the woodwork!)

are you serious? The club, especially Bailey have come out and said that this year they dont want to use the development excuse this year. I realise as much as the next avid fan that we're not a collingwood/hawthorn yet but after playing the kids for the last few seasons i think even the club would start to question where we might be headed if we lost to brisbane & gold coast in 2 weeks.

If we loose against the lions and gold coast then were saying one of the following things;

- Our "young talet" isnt as good as their young talent (which IMO is not the case)

- Our players arent as hungry as their players (Jury still out)

- Our tactics arent as good as their tactics (Jury still out)
