And for god's sake intervene if you kid tries to put a rookie's number on their back. My #54 Brent Heaver jumper was good for about three weeks before he changed numbers.

My 17 year old daughter is a HUGE Liam Jurrah fan as is my eldest son. About 2 years ago he was getting very interested in Gary Ablett and Geelong and I was struggling to maintain his interest in the Dees. we were never on TV and we lost almost every week. Oh no - I was losing him to the meows meows! Then, everything changed when one Liam Jurrah came on the scene. When all 6 of us - me, the other half, and four kids - went to see us thrash Essendung in 2010, LJ turned it on and that was it. Right now that same 17 year old daughter is standing behind me making me vote for LJ on the poll. Personally, I reckon Rohan Bail has a huge future and I love his run, or the man-crush on Frawley would make me choose 44 or 8.

Well, considering I'm 15, I might as well vote for Ricky's 15.

Make the kid pick a number out of a hat, then tell tham that's their new favourite player.

Then when they draw #29 say it was a practice and get them to do it again.

I'd tell them that the number 29 was Hassa Mann's number who was a fantastic player and Captain for the Melbourne Football Club.

But then again, you wouldn't want anyone thinking that your son actually likes Juice...

I did spot a young blond kid selling newspapers wearing

No23 on his back,

At the time I was in the far right hand land and couldnt

get over to ask who his mother was.

Then there was this Africian kid kicking a footy had

Aaron Daveys Number. For the life of me, I couldnt recall one of those nights.

I'll keep checking, looking around.

Wow, really goes to show how important it is having the "flashy" types at your club also. Wonder how many youngsters we can convert with Jurrah, Howe and Scully et al at the helm. We have an exciting team to watch. Happy times ahead. FWIW by the time I have a kid Billie Stretch will probably be in his prime.

Played the number's game with my five year old niece tonight, asking her what her favourite number was. 3 was the answer - which would have been fine 10 years ago but wont suffice now.

Then asked her whether she wanted to wear the number of the player who has sent her cards / letters (Aaron Davey) as she is a junior member. She couldn't really remember that.

Then I asked her if she liked #9 and she got pretty excited at that. When we told her 9 was 3 + 3 + 3 she was ecstatic, so it looks like JT will get the nod, although there was also discussion of 31 and 24 too.

Will be happy with any of these on her back

Got my new jumper a couple weeks ago from the Demon Shop - When asked what number i would like on the back instantly i said "Number 4" ..my girlfriend right next to me said quick as a flash "Who else would it be!"

My 4yo chose 24 himself for his jumper. He goes to a lot of games and noticed that 48 last year and 24 this year "kicks all the goals".

If it was my jumper I would choose 18, but it was his choice.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
