Kelvin Lawrence - 181cm, 77kg. Small forward with speed who improved as the 2010 season progressed. Had a superb WAFL under-18 finals series and was largely responsible for Peel's advance to the grand final.

From Inside Football Draft Special

KELVIN LAWRENCE Peel Thunder, WA 18yo Ht: 181cm Wt: 77kg "Kelvin's played Colts all year for us but he's a typical indigenous player in that he knows where the goals are and can find the footy because of his ability to play ahead of the game. He's got good skills and a great turn of foot and he's caught the imagination of quite a few people over the back half of the season. Had a couple of games in Colts footy where he's kicked six or seven goals and he's had a couple of games where he's kicked 1.8 but he can certainly find the footy." - Peel Thunder coach Trevor Williams

Highlights package is impressive, and we know he will have the best possible support when he makes the move across the Nullarbor.

Comes with a good repuation.Hopehe can settle in and kick butts.

Geez, doesn't say much on his profile. Kid is concise.

With a strong indigenous culture a the club already, he will have a strong support network to grow at the MFC.

Loads of promise, I hope he goes well.

I think I counted he hit 3 out of 9 targets by foot.

I wouldn't judge it all based on a highlights package.

Some of those kicks looked good to me, but his teammates weren't up to the challenge.

Maybe, but he was a 17 year old kid playing his first season of senior footy. Lets count again when he is 19-20.

Very true Redleg but let's not also forget that over the next couple of seasons he is going to find himself playing against much tougher opponents in much tougher competitions and this will only add to the pressure he's going to be under.

It's going to be very much up to him and to our football department to work on his all round development including his disposal technique. I think we've seen the value of a good development programme at Collingwood which would not have tasted its premiership success without being able to develop the skills of a number of their younger players who stepped up in 2010. Sharrod Wellingham comes immediately to mind.

I don't think he's that tall.

The club website has him at 177cm and 72kgs. That seems to be more accurate judging by the video.

He's a small outside player, similar to Davey - maybe not quite as fast.

Isn't that what you're making your judgement on E? Or have you seen him play a few games live? Not disputing just seemed like a lot of up and unders in the package shown.

It is what I'd judge him on & I agree with you to an extent.

From the highlights I think some of those kicks look good, but his teammates aren't AFL quality forwards who would eat up those opportunities.

But I wouldn't want to make any firm judgement based on a highlights package.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
