18, but cross has that.

54.

Great result, very happy, was a little worried he rocketed himself up to an early second round pick but what a bargain :)

What did Moore go for? Hopefully so eons before collingwoods first bid in him

Collingwood had to take him with their first rounder apparently.

Interesting to see the Dees use pick 2 for Isaac Heeney forcing the Swans to take him with their first pick....

Welcome to the club Billy!!

Have a really good feeling about this kid, I reckon he'll really come on as a player once his body gets a few pre-seasons into it.

Absolutely stoked to officially be a demon! Thanks to everyone for the help and support. Can't wait to get into it! #myheartbeatstrue

As many have already alluded to.....people that want to be part of our club and take it forward.

What is he going to say?

"Oh ffs Melb has picked me up?! Career over, what a waste. I really had some good chats with the Giants and they said they might grab me."

Sounds like an excellent result to nab him with our third rounder. He sounded like he was doing really well at the draft combine (something people on here didn't seem to like  ) so welcome to the club Stretch, and good luck!

If he didn't want to come to Melbourne he didn't need to nominate under F/S rule.

Could have stayed in Adelaide and gone to Adelaide.

Interesting that we bid pick 2 on Heeney, I wonder if the club will try and poach him in the future

Adds credence to the equalisation argument in future: "swans got a freebie that we'd have paid pick 2 for..."

Not what I'm saying, was making a point that no players would come out saying they don't want to be at a club they were picked up by.

Anyway great to have young Billy onboard, hopefully in 2-3 years he is making a contribution to the cause.

Welcome Billy! Just put your head down, work hard and you will reap the multiple benefits of becoming an AFL listed player. Best of luck and soon we might all be yelling Go Billy or "Stretcha"!

Weclone Billy!

I'm all for cloning him, but how many do we have in mind?

Half a dozen maybe.......at a stretch !!!

Great get!!!! He should be the start of a great trading season for us. Add, Brayshaw, Lubamba, and some more. Plus Hogan and Trengove to come back....................... YES!!!!

Really impressed with how he presented himself on Trade Radio.

Do you think that Roos was making a statement, that he is worth 2, but going for 19 to the Swans.

I would be almost sure of it...

For those thinking Sydney are getting another leg up, lets not forget, we snared a young J.Viney for an absolute bargain as well...

I liked his comments on the website and l am convinced that he is going to be a big part of the future of this Club along with Viney, Salem, JKH, Toumpas, Tyson, Hogan and Brayshaw! (and a reborn Trengrove!)

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

  • PREGAME: Brisbane

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
