And no doubt those who elect to bowl in the first innings of a Test match after winning the toss !

I couldn't give a damm about cricket anymore sadly. The Game is lost, This years ashes series means nothing, infact i hope the Poms win so that Hilditch cops the Flak he so richly deserves....NEXT.

Word is its GWS Giants. Hate them already. What an awful American-franchise-artificial-basketball sounding nick name. Jumper looks crap too. About as good an effort as this:

GO DEES!

Couldn't agree more. Bloody awful name and jumper!

So?

Are giants a particularly American concept?

They have teams called the Lions, the Sharks, the Tigers, the Hawks, the Eagles... should we also shy away from them?

Pointless and ill-considered criticism.

As I said before, 'I can't think of it being used in Non USA related sports'. If it was used in Soccer, cricket, Rugby etc around the world then it would be the same as lions, sharks, tigers. But it's not. Giants has been an American sports name until now. I don't think it fits as an AFL name. But that's just my opinion.

maybe he didnt grassp the significance ?

I am not complete thick BB!

I should have said a jumper with some green in it!

How does that grab you?

I never minded the old Freo jumper that had some green.

I don't mind the red and green colour jumper of south sydney!

The current prediction ( if true )just leaves me cold.

Like others here I preferred the name 'Wolves' much more.

However the jumper is certainly interesting. I can't decide whether I love it or hate it, but I'm glad they went for different colours.

And we're all doomed!!!

Do you despise Andrew Hilditch as well?

So much to phone Steve Price with. Wow

I agree Mallee Bull just doesn't sound Aussie to me.

What about the "Bulls" ?

I could see myself yelling that in the outer but not the Giants.

Fortunately I won't have to yell either.

Lol they use Wolverhampton Wolves colours (EPL team) and then put a G on the front and call themselves the giants.

They may have decided to use the colour orange a long while ago, and hence didn't want to be a blatant Wolverhampton copy.

What would steve price Know?? Feel free to enjoy the Cricket RR, as i said the game is lost. too may secret handshakes within the sub continent for my liking.

Yes I do RR, heard him on SEN this morning. He is a goose.

I have a feeling McDonald is going to end up the same as Hodge.

Three centuries in 2 shield matches and he cannot get a run in the 17 man group for the first test or the Aust. A side.

All this crap about who the "all rounder" is in both sides.

What about playing him as a batesman Andrew!

Pity he does not play for NSW.

I agree we're all doomed. And it only took one 4 Corners show to turn the light on. Amazing

On a more serious level....

They may have decided to use the colour orange a long while ago, and hence didn't want to be a blatant Wolverhampton copy.

I dont care what they are called.... Giants or Wolves. FWIW, I thought the wolves was too Wolverhampton for mine.

I think the jumper is alright.

The AFL would have to see that jumper as a clash with Hawthorn.

Do Hawthorn even have a clash jumper? If not they better get to work on it.

It is now the game of " The Greater Indian Cricket Club".

My thoughts too, I wondered what the Hawks would think!

I would have liked them to be called the Rams.

Fits well with the geographic area (especially with the giant Ram located in Goulbourn on the drive between western Sydney and Canberra), has a long history in Australia, good for merchandise, made tough by the movie The Wrestler.

There was an NRL team called the Adelaide Rams, but they were short lived, and not really remembered.

Does the AFL have an aversion to the colour green? The Dockers have a small splash of it and that's it.

A bold green with some other complementary colour would have looked great.

Hate what they've come up with and hate the name too. Very drab.

They're probably reserving it for Tasmania?

Not anymore. Purple and white.

i must admit the jumpers dont look to bad when worn (there is a picture on the afl website)

but that G is appalling. why does it have a corner cut off??

west sydney snakes would still be a better name.

as for tasmania.....the hawks seems to like it down there, so bye bye hawks

Sorry not quite sure what that cryptic message means RR. if you are thinking that 4 corners is my only point of reference towards modern cricket then you are sadly mistaken.

My Dad spent many years working in india, so i have a fair idea on how far the race will bend over for a dollar or two.

The sub continent has ruined cricket sadly, as the original game is a classic. But it isn't like that anymore.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
