Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The AFL website has news on where our clubs at - Where's your club at?

MELBOURNE

Resumed training: Wednesday, November 3

Snapshot: The Dees played a game against Brisbane Lions in Shanghai, sothere hasn't been much of a break. Players who stayed in Melbourne were at the club most days. The first- to fourth-year players will be joined by the rest of their teammates on Monday, November 8.

Medical room: Aaron Davey is almost due to start running again after breaking his leg during the year, while Sam Blease (leg) is finally looking right to go after suffering his injury in a 2009 schoolyard clash.

Early mover: Tom Scully is killing it. As professional as they come, he's showing the benefit of having a full AFL season under his belt.

NAB Cup opener: February 11 v Adelaide and Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium

Tom Scully, Jack Watts and Sammy Blease are the trio I will be watching with interest.

Tom's progress (especially as he is "killing it" during pre-season).

Wattsy's increased strength and prowess anda bility to take hold of the game.

Seeing if Sam can break into the seniors and play some regular footy.

We have some VERY exciting times ahead, peeps. Just thinking of all our youngsters STILL to debut is pants-wetting stuff!! Blease and Tapscott in particular... and then Gawn as well. More games to Gysberts whose only played the 3.

It all really started in 2010 but things will be sure to rev up in 2011 (barring injuries!).

Still early in pre-season, but I think this is the year that we must upgrade a couple of our young leaders to the leadership group.

Out: McDonald, Miller

In: Grimes, Frawley

Jamar is another who is demanding a spot on the leadership group, so perhaps expanding the group from 7 to 8 would be a good idea.

Although Sylvia is one of our senior players, I think he's the type of person who is constantly struggling with his personal motivation and drive. I don't think he'll benefit from the added responsibility of being a leader, I think he needs to just focus on getting his body and mind right.

I rarely take any attention of what happens in the off-season, including injuries. I judge the team by on-field performance during the season, and if they do have off-field issues, I want to see them counter them successfully as a good team should be able to.

But also because I dedicate 99% of my attention to the NBA season - League Pass, baby! I hope the AFL introduces some sort of HD live game streaming online some day for a yearly price.

NFL pass much the better! Go Pats, Go Sox! Bet of the week - Texans to beat Chargers!

Bet of 2011 - Dees to make the eight!

My feeling is that it's the old Col you are speaking about! Over the last couple of years he has matured both on and off the field. Certainly he needs another season like the one just past (but injury free of course!) to prove that he has buried the ghosts of the past, but if he comes through 2011 unscathed, he could be a very good addition to a future leadership group. Maybe just wishful thinking on my part, but I reckon he now has his mind and body in the right place.

I'm eager to see Cale Morton take 2 steps forward after taking a step back in 2010.

He will be a very good player eventually, I just hope it's sooner rather than later.

He looked awesome in the practice matches last year, looked like another step forward was coming. Did his knee and that was that.

Fully fit and confident and he'll be a bonus in 2011. Only glimpse he gave us this season is that his overhead marking will be a feature.

I want to see Bate step up. No more excuses.

If he does, the forward line will be very interesting, as mid-sized as it is, I reckon if they all push for selection, it could become a very damaging forward line.

Did he really take a step back bearing in mind he obtained a significant injury straight away in season 2010?? You don't just come back in with flying colors after something like that. He had minimal game time and struggled due to that injury.

Therefore, no steps forward were taken and no steps back were taken in my book. He got an injury that was severe and that hampered him it is fair to say.

Big pre-season for Cale I hope!!!

Edit: Deestroy All... you beat me to it. Well said. :)

Along with pick 12, players that we haven't seen much of, but have been with us for a couple of years, should really help lift our club. Players like Blease, Gysberts, Strauss, Tapscott and possibly Maric (will he come good???) will make our team look so much better. Then there's pick 12 and possibly pick 33 that could become good players too (particularly pick 12). We still have so much youth that is supposed quality yet to have a decent run in the seniors, one can't help but get excited with the improvement that will come.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
