Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

pft the swans lost by 80 and his man was BOG, if not for goodes that would have been a 20 goal thumping.. 'pretty good job'

Pfft yourself. Did you think Goodes became a star of the game and got a couple of Brownlows because he is just another player? He would have smashed any tag that day and Cale didn't let him get away like he should have in such form and against a skinny kid learning the position. I stand by my statement that Cale played pretty well on him.

I don't see his decision making as being the problem. He can be a very good kick when he is not under pressure but his kicking action is suspect. The ball drop is iffy and works ok when he has time to balance himself but looks very flaky at times. The same problem as Bruce. I don't thinks he will ever put on much weight. Well not in a great hurry anyway. Its just his body type. You would expect him to be slightly heavier and stronger as he gets older but the increase won't be dramatic. He has those long limbs that seem to make all of his actions look a little loose, relaxed and in slow motion. This could be deceiving.

The upside is, he is very tall, quick for his size, has excellent evasive skills and can be a real ball magnet. There must be a good use for a player with these attributes.

Cale Morton's Twitter today:

Massive day today.. Weighed in at 90kg that's up 9kg from last season!

Incredible that he weighs 90kg but still looks like a rake. I reckon he must be about 195cm these days as well.

Get this kid to 100kg, and maintain his running and overhead marking ability, and we'll actually have a superstar on our hands.

Actually, I looked at a few photos today and thought he looked thicker through the upper arms and chest.

It's good to remember that this time last year he had surgery then got sick and lost something like 7kg.

sorry did you miss the part where i mentioned he was easily BOG in a side that got absolutely smashed? how is that 'not letting him get away'

How many Brownlows has Goodes won again. It's not all in the umpires minds, the guy is pretty good. Goodes was playing well for 3/4's but Morton hurt him the other way including a goal. As a lock down job it was nothing to write home about but really there wasn't much in the battle at 3/4 at that to me means Morton has done a good job. Then Goodes went to full forward and had the whole 50m arc to him self, not surprisingly with the game opening up he got decent delivery and kicked 2 or 3 quick ones on Morton. Morton has rarely played CHB/HBF but has practically never played FB so the result was inevitable.

Also Goodes wasn't BOG, he was just about 10 classes above the rest of his team that day, so stood out like dogs balls. Luckily the Dees were about 10 classes above the swans so it didn't matter.

Yep, just re-watched that match today and while Goodes was very good and clearly better than Morton, it took exceptional efforts to make him better and Morton wasn't all that bad.

Was surprised by Maric being quite good early on also.

If he hadn't have missed that easy shot at goal, we may be much kinder when discussing his chances of making it.

He destroyed Goodes the year before in Canberra. What do either of these matches prove?

Goodes is a champion, Cale can go with him.

I feel like the fact that the only game Maric played in was our best win must provide some sort of case for him. Maybe it was having the three small forwards that day in Maric, Wona and Bennell all providing defensive pressure that made a big difference to our side. I think Maric stuck to his task defensive as well if not better than the other two, but it's been a while so I'm not sure if my memory is correct.

I agree.

He didn't deserve to be dropped but someone had to make way for the captain.

I feel like watching that game again now too B)

Arms still skinny. Perhaps bigger in the neck and chest. Hard to tell from that photo.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
