Nice to dream about but you would think we would need at least one flag before anyone could make that call.

Definitely....but when was the last time you ever heard someone speak using Melbourne...and Superpower in the same sentence ??

Look its all a little tongue in cheek , without taking it too seriously. Vossy undoubtedly trying to play a few mind games ahead of the weekend, but it isnt with some foundation...if only a little :)

Any chance of Voss trying to inspire overconfidence???

We had a good win on Sunday and have won 6.5 games out of 17 and we are looking like a superpower.

The carriage has gone well before the horse here. Voss will try anything.

very much ..hence my reference to mind games..... but it could backfire by confirming just enough confidence to undo his little ploy !!

Exactly. He also referred to the previous game against the Lions. Said that our side collectively as a group tried to intimidate them that night. He is using the same sort of inspired choice words as Brad Scott did earlier in the year trying to find similarities in us being young sides on the up.

he is just building it up, and if anything trying to get his boys up for a win, naturally.

Sure, but you know he's right.

No doubt he is playing mind games and trying to make us get ahead of ourselves as well as geeing up his boys for the match, but he has effectively put the whole football fraternity on notice.

To steal a line from Carlton: They Know We're Coming.

Agreed.

Although he is correct :)

Even considering how bad Brisbane have been, a win for us in any fashion would be as important as our win against Sydney. Any away win would be another step forward, a good start like a couple of days ago is paramount.

If youre all worried now.......what happens when we really are...pretty good !!!

We're all so used to us being ...also rans... we need to learn a new creed...and to feel comfortable with it.

We're Melbourne... and we're good :)

I'm getting worried. 2 days in a row of the media pumping our tires = certain loss coming up

You don't need to worry on the AFL Insider, only briefly talked about the Dees and mostly talked about Kangaroos. And Brad Scotts thoughts on things. The Dees mention was when the votes were tallied as well, so pretty small lol.

Win win statement by Voss.

If they win he can say that the rolled the up and coming.

If they lose he can say they are the new superpower and make a slide comment about priority picks.

Puts the pressure on us. Every demon media engagement for the next week will start, "voss thinks you’re the next superpower blah blah blah" and our response "one game at a time"

Smoke and mirrors to take the flame away from his ass and his terrible drafting choices. I hope Joel M smashes the bears this week.

Or we can go out and smash them again by 50 ( or more points ) and say..yep...youre dead right !! ;):)

if melbourne are going to be the next super power then we need to make the finals this year.

Why? We need to be there on our terms noy jut a filler . We. Could only just make them and then you're out . Nothing achieved just look silly

Best response would be to say ?Voss also thought trading away all his early draft picks in the last uncompromised draft would give him a shot at the premiership this year.... how's that opinion working out?" "We'll be our own judges thanks, and we've got a long ways to go before we can even think that far ahead."

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
