I'm pretty indifferent on how the jumper looks really. They're basically always bland, plain and boring and I think that we just need to accept this. The past couple of clash jumpers we've had haven't been as horrendous as they could have been, and I'm thinking that next years will once again be an improvement. They fact that we're staying away from cartoon style graphics is all I care about really, as nothing looks worse.

As for who we should wear a clash jumper against, I think they're only a couple sides where it can be an advantage. The obvious sides are Carlton and Essendon. I don't see an issue with Brisbane and now that Fremantle have a predominantly white gurnsey I can't see the AFL saying that a clash occurs there. I'm thinking that we also in the past have worn a clash against WCE too, but I don't think that's really a necessity.

Anybody wanna have a go at what they think It will look like? White jumper, red or blue trimming with the MCC style MFC logo In the middle? I picturing Carltons white clash jumper with a MFC logo..

I imagine something like the jumper which was one of the poll options a couple of years ago on the Melbourne website. I can't find the jumper however that was used in the poll.

Navy shorts would be great.

Blue Shorts make a large difference, I am not impressed by it, but they do make a difference for the better. B)

Navy shorts would be great.

It looks far less insipid with the blue shorts.

I'm not sure if this has been brought up earlier in this thread, but would we have to wear a clash jumper in finals and god forbid a Grand Final when we come up against certain opposition?

The Saints did this year

Yep

Just look at StK in last GF and replay

and there we go.....the wait is over?

the back looks ridiculously white. but that because there is no number 31 on the back!

other than that, looks like a solid attempt.

surely we could have squeezed on our heritage MFC / MCC looking logo.

That's the one.

Cheer, cheer the red & the white...

I would buy it.

P.S - Did anybody notice the stars on the back of both jumpers? Looks like it is happening

I reject most of that. I'm sorry.

The 'reverse uniform' is a bastardisation of our guernsey and it wouldn't alleviate all clashes and therefore we would need a second bastardisation - most likely white.

Let's get the one white guernsey, wear it fleetingly, and finish top so we don't have to wear it in finals.

Why would we need a second "barstardisation"?

Why would we need a second "barstardisation"?

Because if we went reverse, there would still be clashes with teams.

Adding more red would create a crash with Gold Coast, most likely Brisbane and most likely Sydney.

So another jumper would be needed for these teams.

Love it! Really hoped for something classic and simple like that! Really, really like it! Hope we keep this setup for a lot of years! :)

I would have liked a fraction more blue but other than that. Go the Swans...woops, sorry, "Go Dees!"....lol

Why would we need a second "barstardisation"?

A red jumper still clashes with some clubs, which requires us to have three jumpers. In 2009 year we wore our traditional jumper, a red jumper and a white jumper. In 2010, we had the traditional strip, and the white jumper.

Red is therefore not an option. As far as I’m concerned, a predominately red jumper is still not a Melbourne jumper.

That isn't rpfc talking either.

Although rpfc can be just as elegant and pithy.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
