It has to be evident now that Bailey only scored the one year extension as some kinda of reward for agreeing to tank the games we needed to to get the high draft picks. Despite the young guns who have played regularly there has been little to none improvement in the areas that matter.

We have no heart, pride, or determination on game day on a regular basis and I believe this may be due to our current coaching staff not having that match day fire that is often required.

What can we do? We're hamstrung by our financial situation, and that contract extension may haunt us in years to come.

I'm not saying Bailey is a bad coach, but the fact that he and his staff have talked all year about our poor starts but nothing has happened is an indictment on their ability to put words into action.

Something needs to change, we have been waiting on improvement for 3 years but it doesn't seem to be coming...

Can't believe we gave him an extension - Bailey just doesn't look a match day coach. We are going to be [censored] if we have another season with ths man in charge.

I like the guy and I think he's doing ok. But the bar has been raised by Brad Scott and Damien Hardwick. North are challenging for the eight and their team isn't any more talented than ours, and Richmond have gone from a basketcase to a halfway competitive team in half a season.

We're playing like we're still in the tank...

Having said that, I think Adelaide are now better than their position shows. They rolled Freo a few weeks back.

It's time Garry Lyon put his money where his mouth is... Show some spirit and love for the club and give up the big time cash for a few years and bring us the fire we need. We won't get anywhere with this mediocrity.

Can you elaborate on that? After being blown out of the water in the first 10 minutes against Collingwood, he probably out coached Malthouse for the remainder of the game.

I think with the hiring of the new coaches in Scott and Hardwick, it is starting to show that Bailey may not be up to it.

What it has taken those two guys nine months to achieve, we are still struggling to gain that two and half years later.

I thought it was a case of the list turning over, and retirements of key players that may have caused us to be so terrible in 08 and 09, but am now starting to believe that may not have been the issue.

If we don't show signs of improvement toward the end of this season, i will be more than happy to have him moved on

And that was after talking all year about our poor starts... So that's a useless point, he couldn't do what he said. (Besides the fact that that was one game)

Too often we start with no enthusiasm, determination, or even a clue about what we're meant to be doing.

Don't get me wrong guys, I don't think Bailey is "bad" I just don't think he can inspire our players on a week to week basis. All fine to get up for a game against Collingwood, but it matters for little if we can't get enthused about playing teams we really should beat (Adelaide).

Stop jumping the gun. There are no excuses for losing games like this one against the Crows. However, take some time and look at the bigger picture. It is too easy to just blame the coach after every loss. One week, we did fairly well (draw against Pies) and everyone is full of optimism, one week (...techinically 2 weeks) later and we have a bad loss and everyone blames the coach again...

Without being in the inner sanctum of the club, none of us can really justiy whether or not he has been a good coach because it is difficult to judge off the win/loss record.

At the end of the day, our first quarters have been poor but it is not neccesarily an inability of a coach to emphasise this. I have a feeling that they would know this. The torch also has to go on the players.

Yep, there's no steel about us in the early part of a game. Richmond come out with, pardon the pun, the "eye of the tiger" in their players' faces. We sometimes get that as the game goes on. But we're usually a long way behind by then. Some sort of issue with mental preparation, it seems.

What do you think a coaches job is?

If a coach and his staff see a problem with our game, whether it's a gameplan, mindset, or preparation issue but can not find a way to overcome it then they are simply not up to it.

On the situation of coach, i will wait to see what Stynesy Cameron & CC have to say after this debacle.

I am sick of the Big Picture talk on this.

The Future is now, in terms of "having a go"

Adelaide are a crap side this year and we didn't give a yelp.

Same [censored] different day.

No wins at AAMI (not even close) for 10 years.

Pathetic..is the only word.

Adelaide had won 3 games till today.

He must be [censored] off after what he said to the media mid week - "we've been a disgrace at AAMI"

Exactly!

How "Big" a picture does it have to be? 3 years has come and gone.. is it 5 years? 10 years? 20?! I think the picture is big enough, maybe our staff are spending too much time looking at the big picture and missing all the details that aren't there.

What i still cannot fathom, is the fact that we gave Bailey a contract extension right at the start of the year. Is it so he wouldn't feel under pressure???? Well any coach that had Bailey's record should be feeling the bloody pressure. No, it has to be because we want to keep the wolves at bay, look at them all lining up to get his signature *crickets*. He is so slow as a coach, just like our starts. He has 2 game plans (if you can call them that), the first being this obsessive run through the middle of the ground (to which the answer is a simple zone), the other is to limit the damage of our poor starts so that we don't lose by a heap.

I have no idea what our board sees in him, and the fact they continue to sing his praises is starting to worry me. We are becoming an old boys club off the field, whilst our players are rolling the dice to see if they want to turn up on game day. This has been going on for 3 1/2 years now.

I don't want to hear that our players need games together to gel, Bailey, you keep regurgitating the same old crap, all talk and no action is what you are. I want a coach who gives a damn about his coaching record, not one who thinks it's gonna come together in a few years. The last coach who thought that was one Terry Wallace and i think he'd have you covered Bailey.

As for the playing group, for years they have tried to rid itself as being labelled downhill skiers. Nothing has changed. They just don't realise that they are meant to turn up every week and give a good showing. That's why they're paid so bloody much (too much). Put em all on performance based contracts, that would save the club millions. Maybe then we might be able to give Baldy and his inept sidekick (Josh Mahoney) the flick whenever we bloody feel like it.

Like I said earlier, I honestly believe Bailey agreed to tank the needed games for draft picks in exchange for a 1 year extension, hence the timing.

People need to go and have a long glass of chill the [censored] out.

If anyone thinks Richmond is traveling well, they are seriously kidding. In terms of North, let them finish middle of the ladder every year and become increasingly irrelevant. Does anyone actually believe they are closer to a premiership tilt than us? No.

We are inconsistent because we are young. We are frustrating because we are running around with some seriously undersized and inexperienced onballers and half a forward line.

The sun will come up. 2010 was not our year.

I saw similar bursts of wisdom on the news tonight with the G20 protesters atop burning police cars.

Yeah Rhino - and for 2 1/2 years on, Bailey is still talking about the same concepts.

Do you not think that everybody knows Bailey hasn't got? What has he achieved?

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
