That hits us all DJ 16. All the best to your Mum and may she feed on the MFC energy as well.

The change in this club over the last 18 months is absolutely staggering, and it is still the early days of the ride.

May you and your mum see much september action together with Jimma.

We are Melbourne. B)

Thanks WYL...much appreciated mate.

No doubt, we will ALL be there to see (insert appropriate captain choice here - there's so many!) lift that trophy very soon!!

Doesn't it make the start of the week so great that people are now coming up to us Demons again to talk about our players and in general how well the club is traveling...a great team that has been assembled all thanks to one great man!!

And we thought he gave us enough as a player! His legacy will live at Melbourne long after you and I are gone!!

Go Demons!

The team at the moment is just simmering..it's like a new motor that is yet to be Run in. Still so much hard work to be done-But the Old Demon is now awake, that i do know.

Don't forget yesterdays game went out to many countries & would have rated a treat without ANYONE turning it off.

Still much work to be done, but you can feel the energy building, as you can feel it in the crowd now

We made more noise than the filth a few times yesterday, Both sides were at civilized war yesterday.

It means next years QB game will be a sell out for sure!! B)

You are an inspiration Jim!!

My mother has been battling two brain tumors since November...we are all great Melbourne supporters and a positive for my entire family has been the strength gained from Jim and watching how he continues to fight and live his life as well as the turning fortunes of our great club.

It is almost part of the healing process for my mum going to the games this last year or so as it feels like she is part of something much bigger and it helps her to fight.

So thanks Jim and keep fighting!!

DJ 16, my heart goes out to you and your Mum. Really hope she pulls through okay.

Cancer has claimed too many of my family, friends and acquaintances. Just so hope your Mum & Jimmy can both beat it.

This will happen with this Illness, must keep mopping it up, No choice, just keep on keeping on. GO JIMMA!

Keep cleaning it out Mate.

If ever there is a perfect example of follow my lead and never stop fighting then it is you Big Jimmy.

When a player feels tired he need only think of you to find the drive to keep pushing.

You will be responsible for returning this club to a powerhouse and we all know that because of your heart and fighting spirit you will be there to see what you transformed.

You are a superstar and a true hero to everyone in red and blue...........

My father died 12 years ago from the dreaded Jimmy Dancer (his was inoperable). I have fond memories as a child going to the footy with him to watch the Dees. Just before he died he gave me his prized possession- a bottle of Demons Premiership Port, purchased from the club in the early eighties, with instructions to open it and share it with my sons when we win our next Premiership. There now seems a real possiblity of the bottle being opened soon.

Good luck with your Mum, she'll enjoy the Premiership when it comes.

I am reminded of a charity lunch I attended several years ago. Jimmy had not long retired from the game and was the guest speaker on that occasion.

The usual agenda for these lunches was that the speaker from the previous lunch would attend and be presented with a cheque for a charity of their choosing. In this instance, the previous speaker was a Catholic Nun and she duly attended Jimmy's lunch to collect her cheque.

When the time came for Jimmy to speak he approached the lectern very red faced and opened his speech with; " Dhere goes most of my talk, cos I just cant say half of what I wanted to with da Sister dhere, present." The room erupted, but straight away Jimmy, with his self-deprecation, had the audience in the palm of his hand.

At the end of the lunch, Jimmy was selling copies of his book, "Whatever it Takes" which I gladly bought and Jimmy obliged by autographing it to my wife – even though she is a Hawks supporter, she just loves Jimmy.

For those who have not read Jimmy's book, I highly recommend it. His insights, previous challenges that he overcame, and his strong sense of integrity and loyalty, put into context his current and most challenging battle yet.

In 2001, my older brother passed away suddenly. He was a man whom I greatly admired. My nephew and late brother's son, quoted Jimmy's book while giving his eulogy. As sad an occasion as it was, I was warmed by the thought that my late brother, a Collingwood supporter, had words spoken at his funeral, which were contained in a book written by a Demon legend.

If anybody can overcome this curse, Jimma can.

May the road rise up to meet you and may the wind be always at your back, Jim.

Just take a look at the footage of the boys in the rooms after the draw. Jimmy was down there making a concerted effort to get around to all the players and talk to them. The way the younger boys' faces lit up when he came over to them was just unbelievable. The man is an inspiration to everyone.

Everyone and anyone associated with not just the MFC but the AFL at large is behind Jimmy.

Good observation. From the vision I saw, he was talking to around 6 or 7 of the boys (various ages), they appeared to be taking every word in titan. Pleasing effort by Jim, he really does go out of his way and I'm sure the players respect that and really look up to him.

All the best Jimmy (& family), keep fighting mate.

Great book, and a well worn and treasured posession of mine. I have lent it to several people who were going through tough times and they all found it inspirational, just like the man himself.

I am not a very religous person as an irishman, but hearing this i havent stopped asking the big man upstairs for a favour with Jimmy. I'm in the medical profession myself and by all accounts this is as bad as it can get for the man, but jimmy being jimmy nothing would surprise me, lets hope and pray that he kicks its arse. you only have hope, look at lance armstrong, that man should not be alive, but he is. Jimmy you are a true champion and hero to us all, on and off the field. keep up the fight. your a Paddy, we love a good scrap.

good luck mucker

Does anyone know what happins with his treatment? Does he require more surgery?

Not sure, surgery is only away of delaying the cancer - I am not sure what treatment options are for such diseases. Depends on the type of cancer.

Hope Jimmy can get better for the sake of his family. Probably the toughest bloke going around mentally.

What an amazing, amazing man.I have followed this football club for 50 years. And have never been more inspired, humbled and yet feel so helpless at the same time.

I constantly see this great man, leave hospital against doctors orders,to give hope and inspiration to others.Truly remarkable.

If they find some new Tumours then they will probably do more surgery, unfortunatley any surgery is pure salvage surgery, as in trying to extend his life, there is no curative surgery now, its gone too far.

Tarzan, do you know this for a fact? Or, is it just your opinion? If the latter, would be best if you state it as such. Certainly hope it is not fact...

i'm not saying this is fact for Jimmy at all, but in my experience this is how the treatment usually goes for tumours such as these. the fact he has no new tumours is def encouraging but the old ones are still there which is not. i am only commenting on experience with these situations.

Must agree, with personal experience with my mother, this is usually the case, but obviously pray to god this isn't the case with Jimmy...

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
