Training Junction Oval 4/6

Recommended Posts

Hi all, this is my first post but been reading Demonland for years.

I went to training at the Junction Oval this morning.

A quick summary for you all:

Garland trained the entire session and did not seem hindered by his knee injury from last week.

Tapscott, Gawn & Jurrah were completing a number of 100m 3/4 pace & sprints for about 15 minutes while the rest of the group were inside for a team meeting. These 3 then proceeded to kick with each other for 10 minutes. Tapscott & Gawn also spent some time kicking for goals & then off for a bike ride.

Coaches spent some time with Gawn on his kicking style.

Jurrah joined in with the main group for the rest of training. He looked fit to me.

All emergencies joined in for training, as per usual.

Simple short skills session that lasted about 45 minutes. Handballing drills, bit of kick to kick, end to end drills and some goal kicking.

Plenty of talk & generally clean ball handling seeing the ball was a bit slippery.

Overall the boys seemed to be switched on to me. Hope it follows on into the game over the weekend.

Thanks for this I love it. Keep it up.

Good thread...thanks for the update

how was kyle cheney looking? I still have a suspicion he might get named on saturday...

Kyle looked ok to me. Nothing really to report, other than he is a tank!!!

Frawley did leave early but he seemed ok, maybe just precautionary (hoepefully).

Great work SARS....love these updates!!

It was mentioned yesterday that Scully may not be in the side this week - to put any fears to bed did he train fully?

Fingers crossed for Chip that all is well.....he has half a hand on an All-Australian jumper IMO.

Scully trained the entire session and moved well.

There was nothing in his training today that would suggest he wont play.

Magnificent to hear that Liam is looking maybe closer to return than expected.

Will be very interested to see Gawn and Tapscott when they get into action.

Thanks for the report - always appreciated.

Any news on Fitzpatrick ???? Does anyone know much about him other than he is very tall and athletic?

Bailey said he and Trengove trained really strongly and are itching to get out there...

:D

It's ridiculous how much we already rely on them.

Fitzpatrick is selected in Casey 2s. Think I might have a look before the main game

Mono,

I have seen Jack F a couple of times at Casey. He moves quite well for a big fellow but is still not confident to get into the thick of things.

It is too early to make any judgements but he is certainly the right body type for a mobile ruckman.

I think he's the one who's going to take longest to get going out of this year's crop. He's very thin still and has had his development slowed by CFS. I don't think we'll see him in the senior team this year. Maybe next for the experience, but I wouldn't stress if not.

We know what Jurrah can bring to the table

Taps as a forward could be good and Gawn we need to be good - both could be keys in deficient areas

Taps also seems to have ripping foot skills

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
