The stupidity of some footballers never ceases to amaze me. After the fiasco with Richmond players at their Sydney hotel earlier this year, you would have thought that players would pull their heads in while on interstate trips. But no, the latest travelling idiot is Daniel Motlop who has been suspended for a week by the club after breaking a curfew while in Darwin last weekend.

They never learn!

Played well too.

I wonder what the personal circumstances in his life that the club referred to are. I wouldn't mind seeing clubs be a little more lenient.

It says it in the article.

Also I reckons he's got harsh deal here, because all he did was go pick his girlfriend up from the airport. If he doesn't pick her up he's probably in trouble with her, so maybe he's picked the lesser evil.

Got his pants pulled down by Chip IMHO ;)

In most cases, footballers are stupid. I hope that we acquired the 44 who aren't.

We have Colin Sylvia.

We have our lionshare of stupid.

Thought the topic was about the saints boys and their alleged problems OR Michael Johnson having been caught with a drug before .

Motlops transgression is minor IMHO

Too many clubs think they can turn their transgressors into instant Steve Johnsons. Just add a suspension & voila !

Should have been kept inhouse & Motlop made aware of his responsibilities in a way that doesn't impact onfield. And given a cabcharge account.

He picked up hs missus from the airport. FFS

is that it..he picked up his GF ?? lol.. he wasnt urinating on some cafe...he wasnt playing fisticuffs with fellow team mates.. wasnt out onthe [censored], he wasnt out placing a bet..he picked up his GF..ffs...Hilarious.. Port are a total basketcase

Being in Darwin I don't see how he could have picked her up other than in a taxi. Surely he didn't drive there from Adelaide and I doubt he would have hired a car.

If he rode in a taxi to the airport and then back in a taxi with her to the hotel due to safety concerns (it was 2 am) I don't have a problem with it. However he probably should have mentioned that to the support staff earlier in the day and they could have made alternate plans so he didn't have to break curfew. He also could have put her on an earlier flight. But I guess he's not that smart.

BTW - i reckon redleg was being sarcastic, Chipper smashed him

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
