Both the young stars, as well as Grimes, were brilliant again tonight. It is becoming that we can't do without them.

I just worry a little about burn out with them. Jack Trengove in particular shows great fatigue late in the games. He did against the Lions, but especially tonight early in the last quarter when he miskicked three times in a row and was clearly fatigued.

When will it become time to give these guys a rest at Casey, or even a week off?

It was a wet hard slog with a 6 day turnaround, what more could you expect of young players. But it was a great effort by the youngsters. The last thing they need is a break. They are improving each week. The more they play together the better and more confident they will be with each other. I am not only talking about Scully and Trengove you include Grimes, Bennell and McKenzie.

Seriously, unless they are physically hurting and showing real signs of injury, they stay in the team. They need all the experience and game time they can get, not to mention we actually need them playing. They make us a better team.

If Trengove is tiring he can easily play as a forward for half a game.

Not yet. If their bodies are not showing niggles and their recoveries are fine, give them a real good run. I believe Grimey has played quite a few games in a row now after his repeated back issues, he's still looking the goods, and if they're happy to grind games into him with his prior injury concerns, I don't see why Scullgove needs to be rested.

Perhaps a game off mid-year, and see how they come back after that - just to be on the safe side. AFL website says Tom picked up 39 possessions - doesn't sound to me like he's tiring.

Agree with trengove. Has shown in SANFL that he has the ability to be a matchwinner in either defence or attack. Scully on the other hand is clearly one of the fittest players in the league and is not a worry.

I think you are being very kind to Jack Grimes tonight. He absolutely butchered the ball, not one of his better games. You got to love his endeavour, but some of his turnovers tonight were absolutely inexcusable.

Absolutely amazing defensively. When he's near a contest you breathe easy.

Offensively, had me comparing to Paul Wheatley, just not kicking it where he wanted. Nothing too worrying, he's not a magical kick of the footy, which means he'll have his good and his bad.

Trengove seems to labour late in games, but when the ball is near he is still ferocious. I'd look to rest him soon, but not too soon. He might be able to get through to the mid season break. Morton back could give him a rest.

Scully - needs no rest, unless sore after games.

He's a little bit off form but he is a very good player putting in big time. He'll work through it, & deserves the chance to work his way back into form.

I've been a critic of Bruce, but I have to say he was good last night, even if the conditions really helped him to perform like he did, he still played really well last night.

They might be able to give them a night off training here & there to help freshen them up. Trenners is very important to our attacking structure. we'd miss him if he was out.

Odd to say someone's showing signs of fatigue when he collects 18 disposals in the 4th. There were times he was running away from players like Boyd, Cross, Cooney, Harbrow, Griffen and Gilbee, all of whom are top notch mids/half backs with years of experience and fitness. Basically every account of the game says as much.

There will come a game as there did for both Jordie for us and Dustin Martin for Richmond that there body soreness will mean they need a break. Whenever that comes you give them a spell. Otherwise you pump as many games into them as we can.
