MacIntosh is an ok player. Jamar was always going to have a harder day against 2 mature ruckmen.

We're done here. Wells has killed us in the last quarter.

5 goals in 10-12 minutes of footy... can't be done.

Macdonald would be very lucky to be in the side next week

MMM saying Petterd just put his shoulder completely out after coming into the game with a loose shoulder.

Not good. Even today when not right he showed us something. That's gonna cost us in the coming weeks.

Out Macdonald in JORDIE MCKENZIE. Anyone knows what was wrong with him today

Why? 30 touches suggests that while he may not be delivering it well, at least he's getting his hands on it.

And up until this week he's been sensational for us this year. Great pickup.

Won't be dropped for next week. If it's been a bad game, it'd be his first.

Petterd didn't look great walking off. Shoulder was out and took a big knock to the jaw in the marking contest.

Our small (but lightweight) forward line suited North's quick and stocky backline.

North's paddock type forward line exposed Warnock for height and Bruce and Rivers for pace. Was a constant concern.

Maybe dropping is a harsh call. Indecisive and conservative, caught often with the ball and put others into trouble. Coughed up goals. Needs to be better.

Final scores:

NM 104 Mel 78

Much better 2nd half.. we dont play ethiad too well- its almost like interstate for us, but i feel like we will play better there next time.

In general tho, everyone was down on the last few weeks.. its to be expected from a young team, the highs and lows,

so look forward to a better contest at the our home ground the next couple weeks v the dogs and wce..

Oh, and if it turns out the pett has done a Jurrah, after he was clearly not right and they left him on the ground anyway, im gonna lead the lynch mob..

Are you questioning our medicos & whether they did the right thing by Ricky?

There is no way that our Doc etc would leave him on the ground if they thought that there was a risk that he would serious injury.

Mckenzie had a few niggles and they played it safe with him I'm told.

Bail didn't play for Casey with quad.

Mckenzie and bail in next week, if they're fit.

Can't argue with that...

What's a concern is his upside. He's been a great acquisition for a side screaming out for resilient workmanlike players. But what's his ceiling? Did Voss know it wasn't that high? Is this why he was let go?

We went into the game a couple of goals down with the decision of replacing Jordie, a defensive runner with Rivers. We lost run and a player capable of winning the ball. Why Bail didn't replace Jordie I don't know, but we didn't need Rivers.

Mind you, it was Macdonald who played an absolute shocker. He was terrible and we simply cannot play both he and Rivers together. Too little accountability and very little defensive execusion. Dunn is the other "footballer to the tip. We know he is no good and it's time he made way for Bail/Jetta/Morton when ready etc. He makes shocking decisions and gives us little in return. Bruce is Bruce. I've given up wasting my anger on him and those in charge of selecting him each week.

Disgusting game. We had no idea how to combat North's flooding (they are a shocking team to watch!) for a half and when we worked it out it was too late. We then went on to make some shocking 2008-style decisions and everything fell apart. Just goes to show how important confidence is to a young team.

Personally, I think we need to taake a breath & remind ourselves that he has had played quite well the last 3 weeks. Yes, he had not a great game today - but, he was not on his Pat Malone there......

Voss played him for all of the 22 rounds last year - he cant have been that bad.

Absolutely pathetic.

Umpiring in the final term was pathetic. Some of the worst umpiring I've seen. To give away three goals from free kicks, particularly the shepherd on Wells in the last is disgraceful and why people will stop going to matches.

Davey was terrible today. He made a couple of good decisions in the third, but was otherwise shocking and I wouldn't be surprised to see him dropped in order to make an example.

Some absolutely appalling decisions against us in the 4th quarter especially ... but then again, we got a heap of very soft frees in the 3rd quarter: whether for or against, it's still not good enough.

The only positive out of today is that people around here will stop talking about finals and even top 4.

Correct. While i love Demon supporters being abnoxious and up and about for once, alot had some serious head wobble about them and the top 4 chat was insane.

To be honest i find top 8 chat a little far fetched. have to learn to win games we should, have to learn to win at ETIHAD, that is a priority. i know we dont play to there to often, but we should be better than that at a ground which has 2 sets of goals, just like any other ground.

I am really disappointed we lost, i hate losing, we are not a good enough team to give the opposition 50 point starts. But on the flip side, in previous years that may have been a 10 goal thrashing, so improvement is evident, how much is the question!

Correct, people are insane. I understand having faith in your club but this is crazy talk, finals, top 4 top 8... Turn it up, MFC are still a bottom 4-6 side.

What's wrong with McKenzie? Love that kid.

We will have learnt something very valuable today... whatever the opposition does to deny us space through the centre, take them on. Keep running and carrying (Scully's great, btw). Believe we're good enough (we were, in the 3rd qtr). And we'll play exciting footy and goals will flow.

Correct, the finals talk last week was nauseating.

I know he won the rising star nomination but i felt Trengove looked really lethargic so perhaps he will be rotated with McKenzie next week and Rivers will make way for Cheney? I dont think Macdonald deserves to be dropped just yet.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
