Ricky Petterd

Hi all,

I'm a bit worried about the possibility of Ricky going to the Gold Coast. He has put off contract talks with the club, and comments between he and Jeff White on twitter recently did nothing to ease my concern. The general gist of the exchange between Jeff and Ricky on twitter was:

Ricky - Absolutely cooked! early morning in gods country tomoro!

Jeff - @Rickypetterd15 Gold Coast?

Ricky - @JeffWhite34..yeh great place..hahah

Now feel free to lay into me if I'm reading too much into something so innocuous on twitter! But is anybody else worried about the delayed contract talks and the fact that Ricky is originally from Queensland? Hopefully the club can sort it out soon and we can keep one of our future stars!

Also, please don't judge the numbers at the end of my username - I would much rather Brad Miller go back to Qld than Petterd hahaha

I've heard some of them call Casey God's country, I'm sure that's what he was referring to.

But on a related topic right at the end of the Brisbane game Petterd and Sylvia were have a red hot crack at each other while all the others were shaking hands. Saw it on the replay that I watched this afternoon...... Not sure if there is anything in this, sure hope not

Think it is a bit of a furphy. Ricky will make a far more considered decision than that. If he wants to go, he wants to go. There is nothing we can do about it. But we are a long way from that.

Let's enjoy the current ride, and Ricky is an enormously enjoyable part of that.

God damn I love Ricky Petterd.

He is an animal, and does not shirk a contest. That was evident in his first ever AFL game when he nearly killed himself on the wing when attcking a loose ball.

The guy is a superb overhead mark, and is just very hard to match up on.

Only a matter of time before he unleashes a bag of 7 or 8 goals.

Yeah noticed this on TV. Wonder what that was all about?

7 or 8??

When was the last time Brown, Riewoldt or Franklin unleashed 7 or 8..?

Anyway, in regards to his twitter talk there was nothing in it. Nothing. Nada. Zip.

It is your own pathetic paranoia.

Him leaving contract negotiations to the end of the season is merely an indicator that he believes his play during this season will producer far greater ouput than previous years (rightly so) and therefore get im a better contract.

Whether that be at MFC or GC17.

Until then there is not much we can do, so just relax and enjoy the season for what it is.

Sylvia took a mark. Petterd ran hard for the handball receive and Sylvia ignored the team rule and failed to move it quickly. Petterd had a crack at him. I loved it.

Didn't notice this cos I was at the game, but that is fantastic. I love it.

Completely a non-issue though.

It's something that would likely be brought up in a match review, discussed, then everybody moves on.

I think Col's man enough, and already taken responsibility for enough drama he's caused in the past, to not let this be an issue.

Kezza, I think Victoria is a great place. I moved from there to Queensland about 4 1/2 years ago. Doesn't mean I moving back in a hurry! Actually, one day I might, but not until I have achieved what I want to up here first. Ricky should be the same - if he wants to win a flag in his AFL career, he has more chance at Melbourne than at GC17; I can't see GC winning one in their first 6 years, by then we may have won 2 or 3, then I'm happy for him to go if he still wants.

Not sure if this has been raised, but I'm sure I read someone, or heard an interview where Petterd said he'll be at the club next year, and not to read anything into his contract negotiations. I could be totally wrong however.

I don't remember who or in which thread, but one of our posters said that he chatted with Ricky at training (??) and was told this. I really hope it's true. I don't want to see any of our players going to GC or GWS.

I was in Hobart a couple of weeks ago...and in their paper there was a small article on Ricky. He had put all contact talks on hold... as he was drawn between both. Loves the red and blue, BUT also misses his family and friends back home. He said he will let his footy do the talking ...!!!!!

hmm sorry but i agree with sylvia there was a brissy player coming into sylvia he was gettin ready for body contact, it would have been a hard handball i think .

my question is why did the umpire call play on ? when all sylvia did is run to take his kick he had not moved forward off his mark ?

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
