I don't think you can really look past him this week, he's been in the running for five weeks now, and he's the player who deserves it the most. Great to see him chipping in with two goals and Scully with his first ever AFL goal, and it was a great one too.

Truely justified his selection in my team, the Deestroyers, tonight. May help me get over the line in my league match. Inspired choice by me... funny thing is before this game i just bought Bail, but my emergencie is jetta, who is also in my opponents team, so end result = nulification. Sweet sweet nulification. No. More likely a young talented kid playing inconsistent football as he learns the game at the top level. Just move on. Your's and others paranoia regarding Nik Nat and Watts is unsettling.

Despite losing the clearances tonight, our midfielders (along with the rest of the team) were absolutely fantastic! Jordie, Jack and Tom all played their roles and when called upon delivered blows to Brisbane on the scoreboard. Great to see goal kicking midfielders. So important to a team without a key tall.

I think that's true. Geelong however, won two premierships without a key tall forward. Johnson is a Jurrah/Petterd type. Chapman is a bit a of a Jones. Mooney...er, well who wants a Mooney? (not exactly a big imposing CHF).

Lots of goals from midfielders can win you finals. That way if your big gun gets towelled you can still find a way to win.

But I'd love to have a big gun.

Scully was good too I thought. Both have settled in nicely.

Looking at the two kids we all thought were most likely for rising star nods, I get very excited by a couple of very important comparisons.

Look at Rich and Palmer. Two guys who averaged a lot of disposals in their first seasons, but were regarded as perhaps players who's ceilings weren't as high as their early career form suggested. For both, it was thought they were already bigger bodies so wouldn't have all that far to go. Rish, it is believed hasn't quite got the engine, and Palmer doesn't have the disposal effectiveness. At the time I thought these were very petty reasons not to believe a player is going to dominate.

But cast your eye over Scully and Trengove's games. Trengove just doesn't have a weakness. None. Usually there'd be awareness, kicking skill, footy brain, engine... Perhaps a lack of physicailty. No. Not a sausage. Trengove is among the best first year players we've ever seen in these regards. And Scully's much debated kicking issues, while still there, don't seem to hamper him so much. Maybe the fact he's a bit up and under when he kicks 40+ metres has caused him to rely on a running game more. Whatever the reasoning, like Trengove, he doesn't have any weaknesses.

The longer they go, the more I am stunned at what they're capable of. And the more I think it's just too good to be true. :D

I expect to see Bastinac V Scully on the weekend. Why wouldn't you put pick 20 something on his best mate and pick number 1 if you were Scott. Both incredibly fit young guys.

I would say he is a tad slow but besides that he is a gem! Scully and Trengove will both be amazing players for the melbournefc but i feel scully will be the better of the 2 but not by much at all!

I think you can't really say who is better, because Sculls is an in-and-under midfielder who is great at winning the contested ball, and Trenners is a free running midfielder who can hit targets and kick goals.

It is indeed a good problem to have. I can't get over how composed they both looked against Brissy. Looked like 100+ gamers.
