Watching the Sunday Footy Show James Brayshaw said for Melbourne fans watch Footy Classified where Dean Bailey will be a special guest. So stay up or tape it if you want to see what has to be said. Should be interesting with him and Garry with Garry saying he wouldn't give him a new contract just yet.

Anyway just thought I'd give the heads up.

Thanks for that.

How about running a sweep on the number of times the word "competitive" gets mentioned during the course of the interview?

I'm in. I'll get it started with one every one and a half minutes. I assume he'll be on for around ten minutes of show-time, so that would put my answer at seven. I'll keep track of it.

:lol:"competitive"? Why thats exactly what we we're on Saturday? Did I say Saturday, Hmmn, that'll make the AFL happy, & the fixture people.

will be very interesting what Garry Lyon has to say to Bailey , after his comments last week.... Hutchy, I'm sure, will bring it up.

I don't expect fireworks. Garry will ask a couple of hard questions and Bails will give calm measured responses to them. Then that waste of skin Hutchy will make some sorta right but mostly made up statements while grinning like a ten year old that has dropped the f-bomb in adult company. Usually Caro will then say something that makes no sense and Thomas will look at both the journos like they have just crawled out of the swamp and are 5 million years short of being considered human.

Heh. There you go. I'd say there is now no point watching but I wonder how close to the mark I'll be.

HAHAHAHAH! And the funniest thing about that (other than the fact that it's all true) is that it's the winningest formula for that type of show that currently exists.

No, I was only tricking. I can read. Didn't you find it strange that I was able to reply to your posts?

Anyone else noticed they have given Caro a bit of a make-over this season? She has either lost some weight or channel 9 has given her a face & chin tuck. Also must have got the teath whitened & straightened coz it doesn't look like she has a mouth full of Edgell peas anymore.

Still cringe most times she offers an opinion.

Hmmm, not sure that this is necessary, we don't spend much time worrying about what the blokes look like, why worry about her? . BTW, she had braces which must have been removedover the summer.

Disagree about Caro. She's usually extremely well informed and always backs up the opinions she offers up which is more than I can say for people who only toss up ad hominem insults.

I actually look forward to her Tuesday evening segments on 3AW.

Competitive = 7

Training = 6

Intensity = 8

Confidence = 23

and the sentence "we'll derive confidence from executing skills at training"

I agree, i think grant thomas is the weakest link on that show, because he makes such wild statements, and has basically no stats or evidence to back them up. It's almost as if he comes straight from the pub

How many times will he mention the phrase "playing games together"?

It's becoming a cliche at the Melbourne Footy Club, but I have no problem with it since I subscribe to the same theory.

We're on the right track.

Disagree. Thomas is the best part of that show. He isn't afraid to speak his mind, risks getting into trouble if he thinks criticism is due of the AFL or umpires, and he is generally reasoned with what he says.

Unlike Hutchy, who blows everything out of proportion and makes ridiculous comments most of the time.

I like Thomas too.

He isn't afraid to speak his mind and offer an alternative view.

I like people like him who think outside the box, but he can be antagonistic at times.

Yes he can. It does get annoying at times, but overall it's probably necessary.

The other thing I don't like is his St Kilda bias. But other than those, really he's a good part of the team.

i saw garry this morning. i was almost going to ask him what he was going to say to bailey tonight, and whether his opinions on him had changed at all in the last 7 days.

i decided against it, as it was too early in the morning on a public holiday, so i thought i'd let him get his latte in peace.

Yes, he'll talk of "getting games into the young players", "competitiveness", the amount of "quarters won" last year not being good enough, of not rushing Jack and getting his "body ready to withstand the rigours of the AFL", the disappointment of losing "Liam Jurrah" and how incredible it is that "he's only played 9 games", how well "Scully and Trengove have recovered from games" and that we carefully monitor their "loads", that he's got a great relationship with the "Board and Cameron Schwab who've been very supportive and understand what we're trying to achieve", how it "wasn't acceptable to lose to Collingwood" and that the players will "learn from that"....

    UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

    Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
