Ex Demons to win flags

Still Waiting

Recommended Posts

Was wondering how many players who started in the VFL/AFL at Melbourne but had to leave to taste the ultimate success!

I guess a few would be Alves, Wells, Jolly, etc etc.

Does anyone have a list from say the 70's onwards?

I'd rather we discussed other teams.

There's a decent chance St Kilda, Footscray and Freo have more ex-players that have won premierships than premiership players themselves.

Have to say the Armstrong story is the best of the lot.

Yes i have no problem with Arma winning a flag, considering what he went through a few years previous.

Even if half the Eagles side was off their chops on the Victory Dias with the cup!

Michael Byrne Hawthorn 1983

Word has it barrassi did not like the close attention whitch why he suddenly went

This article suggests he was given the boot in a hurry after falling out with Barass.

Of course then he kicked 8 on debut the same day we got 5 in total at Kardinia Park

And I believe he later booted 0.8 in a game against us.

I think the classic case of jumping ship to get a flag was Buckley leaviing Brisbane to go to the Pies and then to have the Lions win three flags in a row whilst the Pies won NONE

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I wonder how many people were laughing at the time.

There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
