By my calculations, these are the picks in the pre-season draft. All other clubs' lists are full, so they will not be participating.

1. Melbourne (Macdonald)

2. Fremantle (McPhee)

3. Richmond

4. Sydney (Bradshaw)

One live pick. Should be a ripper, I'll definitely be on the edge of my seat. I think it's nearly time they buried this dead duck.

Anyone still think we're a chance to lose Meesen in the PSD?

Maybe the Tigers can do us another favor by taking Meesen! Or is that stretching the friendship.........they did just hand us Trengove.....

I think that's what they've been trying to do with the recent rule changes Nash (get rid of the PSD).

Why can't it all be on the same day?

There could be more to come because the AFL clubs still have a further list lodgement date. I assume that if a club now wants to grab one of the players out there and not picked they could still do it. I think Meesen is fairly safely still a Demon but Juice might still be picked up by a club, possibly even Gold Coast with one of their five rookie selections at the start of the rookie draft. It was explained to me recently that one purpose of these selections is to bolster GC17's young side as it steps up into the VFL in 2010. They will need some experienced bodies to ensure that the team remains competitive. With Newton's talents and experience at this level, he's got to be a chance. They would also need mature bodied ruckman so Meesen isn't out of the picture either.

While I completely disagree about the talent bit, I hope you're correct. It would be great for both parties if Newton is picked up by the GC17 and then we're free to rookie another young player.

Not to mention that I think Newton may benefit from a change of clubs, because he is clearly not making it happen at Melbourne

You really think they would've taken Trengove over Scully?

The key words were "at this level". I think if you had a club which had, as one of its main criteria, the need to put a side on the field that would be competive in the VFL, then you couldn't go past Newton. He's better than many of the potential KPPs selected in the second half of the draft are ever going to be and you know exactly what you're going to get with him.

As the first member of the Juice Newton fan club (I was there the day he kicked 9 in the Sandy ressies at Windy Hill in 2006 - 6 in the third quarter and later on the day he kicked 4 against Casey seniors with limited game time) I think he still has within him the capacity to do a lot better. Unfortunately, his time might have run out with us.

Hold your horse Nasher, this draft has so so so much more to offer!

1. Melbourne (Macdonald)

2. Richmond

3. Fremantle (McPhee)

4. Sydney (Bradshaw)

5. West Coast - delisted Tyson Stenglein

6. Essendon - for losing McPhee

Will Richmond pounce on McPhee or Bradshaw (not a chance in hell), but what excitement as we wait to find out!

We still would have had the number one pick, and we would have taken Scully. They handed it to us by beating us and giving us the priority pick... hence the name "Jordan McMahon Draftin and trading board"

No, if the Tigers lost to us we would be on 20 points and they on 18. They would have taken Scully at Number 1.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
