That would depend on someone offering something acceptable first I am sure he wouldn't be delisted.

Agree with you there.

Now I have heard it all. Grimes is copping it for racking up too much of the ball to boost his SuperCoach points hahaha.

It would be so much better if he went into his shell and had 10-15 touches a game. That will do me, he can't win.

Not sure former Melbourne captain means anything anymore Red.

It shouldn't. Grimes is in the same basket as Matt Jones and Terlich and should be moved on if we wish to improve.

My interpretation of what my source said is that Grimes is more concerned about getting touches/his own game then he is playing his role.

On the flip side you have someone like Garland who gets criticized a lot on here for not being attacking enough, yet the coaches still had him 7th in the B&F.

As for Moore though, i think he fits our needs nicely. Big bodied mid who can also do a job forward and in defence. A definite get for me!

Anyone watch the footy these days. Andrew Moore helps MFC like Vandenburg, Harmes etc. Competitive. Tough. Mature body. Good skills. Would be a handy addition.

We can steal him in swap for say MFC pick 45 (3rd rounder). He is behind a strong midfield at Port.

I believe Aiden Riley was going to do big things for us as well, but didn't.

He too was competitive, tough etc. (OK had to overcome a broken leg), but many on here were salivating at the prospect of seeing "Pig Dog" Riley breaking bones in the red and blue. It all came to little!

Moore may well be different, but if he can't get a sniff at Port, it's probably not worth the gamble.

I think it's just an analogy for a player who racks up meaningless possessions without hurting the opposition. Grimes has been dropped or made sub a few times this year, even though his possession numbers have been ok. This makes you think that the FD aren't that rapt with his game.

Players can hurt their own side by calling for the ball short and wide, hence allowing the opposition to structure their defence. I've felt that Grimes and Garland are the biggest culprits at doing this at Melbourne.

From the same cut of Yarra Valley Grammar rejects that included Blease and Gysberts.

Falls over every second week with injury.

No way......however, if Aaron Young was available, I'd go askin.....

Would happily have Moore at the club but would've thought Grimes was rated a little bit higher than him.

Maybe grimes and our fourth rounder moving in one direction for Moore and a third rounder.

I'd like to give Grimesy one more season to prove himself, & at 98 games played, adds a twist to this.

having said that, I am definately interested in us working with A Moore, to get him going in AFL.

thats an interesting observation Jumbo; culture issues in that timeframe-environment ?

He is 26 - how many chances does he need?

Id keep him only if we don't plan to bring in another small back (Jetta and Salem definitely ahead)

Not really, D-L...just sensational school footy players that couldn't / wouldn't work hard enough to take the next step. But, Andrew Moore is always injured, hence my hesitation.

I can recall 2 distinct moments when Garland has been visibly frustrated with Grimes on the field, because he has called for the footy when he is no position to be receiving it, and rather than making good spatial positioning, has been merely happy to get a rushed possession that achieves nothing for the team.

He is a habitual culprit, and I have loved what Grimes gave us at times over the journey, but I'm now more than happy to see him go.

He's been Melbourne-of-2007-to-2013-ified.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
