I just read this article on the AFL site:

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tab...66/default.aspx

In particular this comment annoyed me.

"I'll speak to Melbourne and see whether there might be something else that they might want to give back our way"

You offerred pick 11 Carlton, don't expect anything else in return. Carlton is in panic mode, no first round draft pick if they trade it to us and now no Fevola.

I think they are going to want something that they no they can't get so the trade cant be done

They need that pick 11 now to get a KPF since fev is gone and i think the trade is looking better for us, hopefully we dont give in and the original trade is done.

Just posturing from carlscum

They've made an agreement and can't be indian givers now

This will be the first trade made during trade week.

Just got to make sure Mclean holds his end of the bargain up and agrees to reasonable contract terms

and passes all the screenings.

I guess we could spare Robbo.

Interesting... how would people feel about Newton being involved in the trade? Carlton could be interested if Fev leaves.

Most see him as a list clogger, but he could still turn out alright.

If Newton can be bundled into the trade I will party like it's 1999

hmmmm, let me think about it ....no there is nothing we want to give "back your way". so pipe and [censored] off.

carlton will have a first round pick because they will get adequately compensated due to fev leaving.

They can take their pick of Johnson, Batram, Newton, and Bell.

Dunn and Miller would be worth a teeny bit more but I think the deal will be done.

Pick 34 would be useful for upgrades with other clubs so I would prefer they keep it.

Perhaps a swap of third round draft picks may get it over the line.

I can hear the Dr clearing his throat again.

Stick to your guns MFC 11 is enough. Unless they want to take a contracted player we don't want, but that might be hard to sell.

Icke said that "at this stage, what we've agreed on will make the deal happen" so I'm confident it could get over the line without it.

Perhaps he has his eye on an uncontracted and unloved player..?

Or perhaps it's going to get embroiled in a Fevola deal?

On this topic i have heard that the blues are going to back out of this and go to the saints and say lets trade for Ball, pick 17 or 18 (im not sure which one they have) and the saints get Fev

Doesn't sound right. Fev like the 50m arc to himself, he won't get that at St Kilda.

The saints have one of the best forward lines in the comp, I'd be suprised if they went for fev.

Don't you Buckle Demons. Play Hard & make sure any deal is beneficial to the Melbourne Football Club.

Pick 11 it is. Take it or leave it Carlton. Cheats are often indian Givers.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
