It is a very interesting decision especially now the Saints are playing Geelong. I think, he will. due to the talls . They need him to at least be on the interchange. If you agree- whom does he replace?

I'm sure Eddy performed a role for the team, but he only had 4 touches.

Hardly irreplaceable.

Tough call. Would have to feel for Zac but I'd do it.

On what basis would Dawson be dropped? Dawson's position in the side ever being anything less than certain is a figment of the media's imagination and Lyon said as much yesterday.

The Saints have been playing brilliantly without Hudghton all year so unless there is any pressing need to replace someone I don't see what all the fuss is about. With Dawson, Blake, Fisher, Gilbert & Goddard all back there its not as if they are pressed for height, they probably have the tallest backline in the comp as it is. Everyone is carrying on as if its Hudghton's god given right to play in the GF, tough luck for him I say.

yup, eddy for max, if you compare eddy's stats to his game before against the pies ( 8 disposals and 7 tackles - 4 disposals and 1 tackle), he should be a certainty to be dropped. As well with ottens pinch hitting up forward, the sainters will need the extra big man and it would be a great story if the saints can get up with maxy.

Did he embarrass himself last weekend? He was great against the dogs. Looks like he handles pressure well. There is no way Dawson will be dropped unless he manages to injure himself during the week (or is caught having a drug-fueled orgy with midget transvestite hookers).

As for Hudghton, if his form warrants and there is a need for an extra tall defender (there may well be) then he should play. If not, then he shouldn't. Simple enough.

Reckon there was any truth in the Goddard injury?

On SEN they said Goddard grabbed his left Hammy, had one more kick then went in the rooms.

personally I think that was just him beign a smart arse.

No game for Hudghton for me as he is probably past it, has been struggling with form and consistency and would get carved up, in my opinion.

He's a bit slow, not a tall or short fast type and wouldn't add a great deal other than experience.

The latter is the only reason you would play him.

In saying that, I wont be surprised if he is picked as I heard a player from last w/e is out, and not due to an injury!!!

Tough call to make by Lyon!

Isn't your quote a little 2 bob each way

Yes it probably is a bit JCB31.

I wouldn't pick him, but, wont be surprised if Lyon does, from what I have heard.

At least we will know tonight-Any last predictions?

Dawson is going nowhere.

The only position available in St Kilda's 22 is Eddy's. Hudghton is a chance. But so are Dempster and Geary, who have had better games as a part of St Kilda in 2009 than Max has.

If Max plays, it would be only because Geelong has a few tall forwards. It wouldn't be on the basis of good form, which is a good enough reason to not play him.

No change for mine.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
