Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

They didn't need to go.... They went last week ;)

Well if players are only as good as there last game, then JT isnt worth a first round pick and Reiwold is a dud!

Get hold of yourself people, one game in isolation proves nothing, especially while still at a developmental level..

Brocks departure forces the recruiters to take 2x mids with the first 2x picks. Scully and....Trengrove seem likely.

Your kidding arn't you! Trengove is in the top 2 players in the draft, he may still go at number 1 and if he does he would fully deserve that recognition. It has nothing to do with brock leaving and it has nothing to do with our need for midfielders. You take the best availible especially when talking about the top few picks. If a key forward or back was in the top two we would take him. Look at richmond who tried to take players that they needed and missed out on players like franklin and roughhead. You take the best availble for the simple fact that they are the best.

From Matt Burgan's review of the top picks:

"Jack Trengove (South Australia/Sturt)

Did not attend last week's draft camp due to SANFL finals, but his recent form has several recruiters now thinking he should be taken at No.1, ahead of Scully in the draft. The tough midfielder/forward now appears to be one of Melbourne's top two picks."

what a month! considering scully has been a lock for 4 or 5 months ... this is one hell of an effort.

i personally am almost equally excited about both. cant split them... great times ahead

Brock left because we were planning to draft two mids.

Don't believe everything official that you read. Brock was pushed. Our FD opened the possibility at the end of season review of him being put up for trade, Brock understood the situation with all our hard in and under midfielders, spoke to his manager who quickly found a trade with Carlton who may have approached him during the season expressing interest (I am not sure of this bit). It was in both Brocks best interest and Melbourne FCs best interest to part ways saying Brock walked out. Both parties agreed that the "walk out" story was the best way forward. Brocks gets a much better contract and Melbourne get more for the trade. In other words his value is higher. Think about it, we would have been lucky to get pick 30 if it had come out that we wanted to trade him rather than him wanting to go on. Brock is also better off as he can demand a bigger contract.

We got one back on Carlton with Brocky. Gumboots McLean is injury prone and slow. He must be the slowest 23yo midfielder in the AFL and not worth pick 11. He has about 4 seasons left before the game passes him by, and will never be better than an average player.

Well done Dee's..

Ahhh Disco, that talk is true, just happens that the best two available are both Mids.

it does seem the best available are mids. no arguments...i'm a big fan of trengove...have read more about him than scully...just think think it's stupid talk to mention we are now taking mids because brock has left. brock leaving has forced the club to do nothing except draft another player at pick 11...i doesn't force the club to pick a mid...

Fantastic article about this fellow. I went to school with Richard Loveridge who played with the Porks in the eighties and he seems like a very similar kind of guy. Good at everything including humility. Hard not to like!!

Sounds quite impressive. Anyone reckon he's a chance to be drafted?

Like Scully, a class act all round. I can't see how they can be split as No.1 pick, and though I'm sure that neither of them would be fazed by missing out, IMO we should make them joint No.1.

If the issue of who was taken at #1 DID become a point of some kind of contention between the two, I would consider it an opportunity for one or the other to bring it up, talk it over, and come out closer for it. How they handle one another at training, in matches and in the media (as well as socially obviously) will be the defining aspect there. They could be closer mates for it?

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
