Rivers - wound the clock back today. A full preseason and he could well become what he initially promised - Very exciting

Morton - cool, composed, strong marks, great rebounds, all class

Davey - Wow, that was truly exceptional

Valenti - Great game, Is it enough for another year, time will tell

Bate - moving very well, looked pretty good below his knees today and it was wet.

Jurrah - Had to give him a vote just for that goal.

Special mention to Dunn - kept Pavlich on a tight leash, provided some strength and dash, may have turned a corner

Edited by Roost It

Hard to give votes but I want to mention Dunn for doing a really good job on Pavlich, who is one of the best players in the competition and who generally rips us a new one. Dunn has really stepped up since coming back into the team, which is fantastic to see.

Valenti was superb. Not sure where his future lies, but he is an animal and plays taller and quicker than he actually is.

Jones has finally learnt to lower his eyes when kicking and McLean was good after his rest (but then obviously decided to get himself killed again  ).

And today was probably the most complete game I have ever seen Davey play. Phenomenal.

6. Davey - broke the game open with pace and pinpoint passing

5. Jones - Hard at it all day.

4. Jurrah

3. Rivers

2. McDonald

1. Petterd

I could give votes to soooo many more players

I'm not the first to say it but Valenti also had an excellent game. However a few too many errors in disposal by hand and foot cost him votes in my books but I know he can get to the level because he will keep working hard.

6. Davey... Shoe in or the Bluey this year, surely.

5. Bate

4. Jones

3. JMac

2. Rivers

1. Jurrah

There are at least another 6 who deserve to be counted easily in that group. That may be the hardest 6 in recent memory. Morton, PJ, Valenti, Petterd, Robbo, Jeez the list just goes on and on.

I love Jurrah for being the impact player we've needed since Davey moved up the ground. He does it against everyone, and only needs 10 touches. Opposition coaches will be going grey just thinking about him, which puts him in a league unlike any other kids running around for the squad right now. Is he eligible for the Rising star next year?

6 - Davey

5 - Bate

4 - Rivers

3 - Jones

2 - Petterd

Special mentions must go to Morton, McLean, Jones, Frawley, Rivers, Dunn, Paul Johnson, Robbo, Miller, McDonald. Pretty much the whole team.

And Dean Bailey, recognising this was his big day to sure up his final win for the year, his match-day tactics were spot on. The team played the way we hope they will more consistently from next year onwards.

And a special mention to Dunn, Frawley and Cheney. (I reckon John Northey would have loved young Kyle)!

Great point Doggo.

If we were to mark DB on one game given that he's been compromised by the tanking this year, then you couldn't be more pleased... Unless it were the Cats we were playing.

6. Davey

5. Jones

3. Morton

3. Macca

2. Valenti

1. Bate

6. Davey (wow)

5. Bate

4. Bloody I don't even know, good win. Still trying to get over the Dons getting up, God I hate them.

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG after a dismal performance in Gather Round to face the reigning dual Premiers Brisbane. What do expect to see from the Dees today?

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
