Hey just thought i would update you on some young SANFL draft hopefuls in this round.Ill do my best to chase up some old stuff from the year to if i can ok. Matthew Panos-played in Norwoods reserves this week as Taylor Walker came back from Crows into Norwoods senior team.Played out alot at CHF & did very well kicking 5 goals in a losing team that only kicked 9 goals altogether. Was also named in best so will be sure to go back up to seniors again next week.Took plenty of marks & had a very good game. Jack Trengove-12 kicks,14 handballs,5 marks & was named in the best in Sturts senior team that beat West.Had a very good game & was stated as having abig influence in the centre. Alex Stopp-Played seniors in Norwoods team again-10 kicks,10 handballs,8 marks,5 tackles.Alex is a tall 194cm 85kg 19year old lad who has been playing FB & CHB.Just missed draft last year but was playing u18 then & has progressed into Norwoods seniors all year.Would be a handy pick up somewhere around 3rd or 4th round & he likes the Demons,i talk to him everyday & would be a handy tall defender Luke Tapscott wasnt listed anywhere this week so im not sure if injured or not. James Craig whos at Norht Adelaide,SAs U18 ruckman played reserves as Cain Ackland is Norths senior ruck at the moment. Not sure on his stats but kicked a goal in Norths winning side. Roland Achee played in Norwoods reserves again & played out of the middle.Went in very hard & got plenty of the ball.Seemed to be a target for the opposition but he kept getting up & playing on,pretty good all round game

cheers...great insights etc. A handy view from the ol' church town :)

By the week trengove for me cements his possie as out best option at #2 it would be marvellous to get 4 or 5 of these top 12 players ..but obviously its not happening. Still, we're geting two ;) it will be very interesting to see who gets picked up by whom thi syear as for many teams its the last good dip in the pool for a whiles. Plenty of talent in SA ...happy for some to come our way :)

From what you have observed Dee-man would Trengove be a walk up start come round 1 ? and if you have to rate th ebest aspect of his game...whatis it ? cheers

Keep updates coming

Well ive just done a bit more research on a few of the boys so i have some more info.Trengove is 185cm tall & 80kg at the moment so thats around Greens build & taller than Mclean & Moloney. His main strenght would be his ball winning ability in traffic, has very good quick hands & apparantly loves the body contact as well & likes to get in the contest. Not sure of his foot speed but think he goes ok,takes alot of marks also.Stats for the last 5 weeks. Game 1(11 kicks,8 marks,5 handballs & 1 goal) 2.Game 2( 25 kicks,13 marks,7 handballs).Game 3(12 kicks,6 marks,8 handballs).Game 4 (13 kicks,4 marks,7 handballs).Game 5 (12 kicsk,5 marks,14 handballs). Before that he was obviously at the U18 carnival & bear in mind these stats are all in Sturts League side.So overall he has been averaging 23 possies a game against other men on AFL lists or who have played AFL.Well id be pretty confident that he would play 1st round no worries, hes getting talked up here like Gibbs,Cooney & Griffen & at this stage has played more league games & has done better

Regarding Panos & how he has gone.Since U18 carnival has played a coulpe of league games & a few in the reserves for Norwood. In his League games he has played at CHF FF & HFF.Averaging around a dozen stats per game & several marks & has kicked goals in each game.In the reserves he kicked 5 goals yesterday & has kicked 4 & 5 regularly,at reserve level has been playing at CHF so has been getting good returns ave 4 goals a game for a CHF.Bear in mind that in Norwoods league side they have Taylor Walker,Luke Jericho,Sam Rowe-198cm & 94kg & played at the Swans & played some pre season games so has size & more experience,Aaron Kite whos played AFL for Crows & simon Phillips who also played at the Swans so its a fair forward lineup for him to break into but when he has been there has been ok.Does the little things like chase, tackle etc well though & has great hands & big kick.He will turn out ok & will get more exposure this year against men. Also Trent Hentschelle from the Crows stood him last week so thats a pretty big wrap in my opinion

Sounds a little like another South Australia - Richutto?

Trengoves season just goes from strength to strength. His form in the SANFL against men has probably made him the clear #2. Him and Scully ready to go in Rd1 would be massive.

I'm not sold on Panos yet, haven't seen much but you need to be pretty good to be a KPF at 193cm. There's a few KPF's in the mix for pick 18. Carlisle is my favourite, listed at 196cm but I've read that he could be 198 now, sticky hands and a good kick. Couldn't find any footage but here's an article with some background

http://www.sportingpulse.com/assoc_page.cg...sectionID=69677

Griffiths and Fitzpatrick could be in the mix as well, depending who's gone and how BP rates them.

I accually would be happy with Talia, Panos, or Carlisle.

Wich do you think is most versatile? With the game evolving id rather a strong reiwoldt type rather than a stay at home big forward nowadays.

I'd be over the moon with either Talia or Carlisle. Moreso Carlisle.

Panos just doesn't thrill me at this stage.

Not a Fitzpatrick fan, but like 'carn dees' l'd be very pleased with Carlisle, Talia, or Panos at pick 18.

I like Panos, i think he'll be a good player at AFL level from the little i've seen of him live, and in footage. Is a good size already but with scope for further development, has good goal instinct and is a strong mark. Earned his spot as AA U-18 full-forward and if he slips to pick 18, i'd love for us to pick him.

Talia is the most versatile of the three, can play back or forward, but a better backman than forward at this stage though. Carlisle also has experience in defence, but looks more comfortable up forward.

Panos is a more traditional FF, whereas Carlisle seems to play the role of a CHF.

What advantages do you think Carlisle has over Panos, Enforcer? As you say Carlisle excites you. In what way? Is it because he is quite new to the game of AFL and see huge upside and potential, or?

Big, mobile, versatile. I'd never pick a player with an eye to play him solely at FF.

I want him to be capable of a lot more if the need arises - I'm not convinced Panos can.

As you pointed out, he also has huge potential to grow as a player seeing as he hasn't been in the game for long.

Agree Enforcer, versatility is important, we have backs that can go forward so picking up a few forwards that can go back makes sense. Plan B,C and D will be important in a few years.

I like Carlisle's height, and he's not a beanpole. Big lump of a lad and we'll need someone who's not afraid to crash a few bodies. And with his late start at elite level he probably has more "upside" than Panos.

Spot on mate.

Fev, Lloyd - their apart of a dying (dead?) breed. Long gone are the days when you could just play out of Full Forward.

Besides - 35 posessions and 18 freakin marks in one game (although at a lower grade) from a 196cm key position big-man!

That's about as good as Jack Watts' credentials going into last years draft!

Not to say that Panos wouldn't get to the same level as Carlisle could, but he hasn't dominated like that yet..and it sounds like Carlisle is also developing rapidly.

Thing is- will Jake Carlisle be there by the time our 3rd pick comes along? Probably not..

Panos has played down back @ CHB, he seems to be a good decision maker with the footy, he's good by foot & mobile, smart & composed.

He can play the same positions style that Neitz could play when young.

I've see him a couple of times as well as those youtubes vision, & was very happy with his games.

That is good to know considering Carlisle will prob be gone by our 3rd pick and the choice will prob be made for us..

Great problem to have tho- 3 early picks in such a shallow draft! :)

Heard that Trengove played for his school this weekend and not with Sturt and this was arranged some time ago. After winning all 4 games since Trengove made his debut the Two Blues lost this week (against the top side).

I read somewhere that one poster on a footy forum wasn't convinced that Panos would be a Key Posi player, because they hadn't seen him 'crash packs'.

I don't recall seeing him bust packs either, that doesn't mean he doesn't, or won't. Whatever is, or is not, this boy can play footy, & is smart. I don't know if he's good overhead, marking, but he's good on the lead marking out in front, he's great with the pill on the ground, using the ball, has great hands & very good footy smarts.

Hes the All Australian Full Forward I think he is a much better footballer then Carlise, I really hate hearing we need this bloke because he hasn't played as much footy therefore he has more upside. We need a bloke that is capable of kicking 5 and 6's i dont think Carlise is that man. has he ever kicked a handfull?

If we passed up on Panos at 18 we would be silly.

Was he All Australian? he kicked 6goals in the BL 2's on the weekend just gone. I dont think Rockliff was touted to go as high as Panos

Agree. He was touted early for the PSD#1 in 2008. That is until the Warlpiri Wizard came along.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
