Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Demonlanders help purchase Liam's debut guernsey...

the fork

It should be Fork to do the handover. With all due respect to Jimmy - he isn't the person responsible for organising this. It is the great work of Fork that instigated this and then the support of Demonlanders and Demonology members in conjunction with the great people of Mt Theo - the club has had nothing to do with it (except make a profit) so I don't think Jimmy should be the one to do it.

That's just my two cents worth.

I want to be president or number one ticket holder of Fork's fanclub!

Maybe someone should 'heavy' the club to give some of the $3100 'profit' back to the Yuendemu community? I doubt they originally expected to get that much for the guernsey.

I'm not that convinced about the Presidents Lunch.

The middle of the MCG prior to the game seems more appropriate.

Let the grass roots supporters be involved.

And show the football public at large what Melbourne supporters are really about.

And just maybe Liam may be allowed to be involved as well.

The Fork hands the jumper to Liam, who then gives it into the care of Susie to take back to the community.

A bit fanciful??

I quite like the idea of the presentation in the middle of the ground prior to the game but I still believe that it should be the President only because no one knows Fork but everyone knows Jimmy. I know that Fork was the instigator and maybe he should be with the Pres/ when it all happens as our representative but for the sake of maximum exposure for the Club its Jimmy face the media want to see not Fork (although I am sure its a very handsome face - sorry Fork if you are reading this).

We still have to wait and see what Susie wants to do. She may prefer one of the members of the football club to receive it on behalf of the Mt. Theo Org.

All profits go to the cancer council, so the club will only see a small portion of the money covering costs

deesrock I agree it should be Fork to hand it over, but the club didn't make a profit - proceeds went to finding a cure for cancer.

Yep - my mistake - sorry!

I completely forgot about the cancer part of this - that makes me even more proud. We've helped two excellent causes.

Enforcer. I believe the Age through Martin Flanagan has been told of the story. Also I have contacted the Club this morning and hopefully Jimmy is now aware of what is going on. The suggestion by the Club was that that they would have the jumper framed and that it should be handed over to Mt Theo Org at a Presidents lunch venue. They will also arrange for a plaque to accompany the jumper. We are waiting on Fork to contact Susie so that they can decide on who is to come down to Melbourne. I have also contacted the Club again this afternoon and asked them to nominate a date for the handover.

There is a suggestion that Fork should hand over the jumper but I still believe that Jimmy should do it to capture the maximum exposure for the Club. Obviously if Fork could come down that would be excellent as well as he was the instigator of all of this. As far as media attention in Alice Springs I think we could probably leave that to Fork as well. (He'll be needing another holiday before this is all over)With the footy show we cannot do anything until we have confirmed more details. Announcing it on the the show is probably better if it is done the week of the handover.

So that is where it is at the moment. As soon as I know the details I am hoping to approach one of the airlines if necessary to maybe get a sponsored seat down for the Mt. Theo representative. I will also speak to the Club and see whether the AFL has a deal with the airlines to get a cheap seat. I have another option if necessary.

Great effort longsuffering. Collectively this whole story is very heart warming. When our club is suffering on the field, off the field there seems to be alot of synergy amongst all Demon supporters. The Liam Jurrah story is one hell of a shining light for season 2009.

I have an exciting update on the preliminary plans for the presentation of Liam’s jumper, which the generous posters of both Demonland and Demonology have helped secure for the people of Yuendumu.

Before I go on I just want to thank you all for this experience, in particular I want to thank sleeve, for his efforts, long suffering for making initial contact with the club, RobbieO, deesrock and norwood demon for the messages and support. But really all of you have made this happen, this is ours.

After having a great chat with the club yesterday, who it must be said, is both moved an impressed by the nature and spirit of this fundraising effort, initial details of the event have been organised.

The jumper presentation will occur at an upcoming Mfc, Women of Melbourne function; The Long Journey. Which will be held at the Long Room at the MCG. This evening will be a celebration of the fantastic indigenous players of the Melbourne Football Club and a mightily appropriate occasion for the presentation to occur.

It is suggested that the presentation will be a major event of the evening and the club is really hoping that Demonlanders and Demonologists attend the evening to witness a part of MFC / Yuendumu history that we were a part of creating. I just think it’d be great to have a heap of us there to celebrate our achievement with Liam and the other indigenous players all of whom will be present along with Big Jim.

Price: $90 Inc. GST Price includes cocktail food, beer, wine and soft drink.

Details of the exact nature of the presentation are yet to be finalised. Mt Theo, Yuendumu, the club and Demonland and Demonology will all be involved.

The club has requested that one member of Demonland and one member of Demonology will be required to be involved in the formal presentation of the jumper. I think this is a wonderful opportunity for us to put a good foot forward.

What I am going to ask everyone to do is nominate who they think is suitable for this role. Whilst I personally hope to attend, though this is unlikely, I would like to give two lucky posters the opportunity to be a part of history. I feel my involvement thus far has been special enough, the thanks and support I have received has been fantastic and I will now die a happy soul. I want to share the excitement and throw it open for the members of both boards to decide who our representatives should be.

Whilst I’ve got your attention I’ll throw my two bobs worth in. I think it would be good to have a male and a female, someone young and not so young, to show the diversity amongst our supporters. I’d love to have one of the founding members of the boards be a representative, one of the wise old buggers. And I reckon there’s room for one of the two representatives to have a lucky little tacker in a Dees Jumper up on stage with them also to have a memory that will last a lifetime.

I don’t know how else best to do this? Anyone got a better idea? As '84 has just suggested below it should obviously be people who have dontated.

PLEASE NOTE: The club has asked that I be the sole point of contact for this presentation. The club has been contacted by several individuals and would prefer, understandably, for them to have one point of contact, which at this stage is me.

Thanks again. I understand that some media is interested in this story which is great, this is a wonderful opportunity for the club. Lets support this great event!!!

Oh and you can call me Luke, this fork thing is weirding me out!

It's great to see these donations rolling in. Mt Theo have been swept up in the excitement, I reckon we’ve got a few new members on the way!

Keep it coming in, it’s not too late to get involved, excess monies could even go towards ensuring the proper representatives from Yuendumu and Mt Theo are able to attend the jumper presentation.

Imagine how proud Liam is going to be to have some family attend such an event!

C’mon Dees!

Luke - it would be great for you to be there. I honestly believe you are the best person for the job. In fact, I'd be disappointed if you weren't involved.

I've never actually gone to one of these Women of Melbourne functions, but being a chick I should. Given that the jumper will be presented at this function, I really think I will go. I will try and get a table together if it doesn't clash with anything else I've got on.

I would like to suggest two possible handover persons of the female variety.

Jaded or Judee - none of us can question their passion.

Would be fantastic to get as many Demonlanders/Demonologists as possible to this event.

Looks like a really interesting, affordable, and worthwhile one.

I think it'll probably be the one function I can attend this year too!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
