Bruce played as good as he can play. I thought he had a decent game.

WHY DOES EVERYONE THINK HE CAN PLAY BETTER? He took good marks and got a fair bit of the ball. He is just not that good.

Agree, its a combination of nothing to kick to, and the way in which we do kick it in there.

As for bruce, people have no respect for someone who has worked hard for our club.

He was pathetic. He runs hard and gets a lot of it, but he continually turns it over, misses set shots, and he dropped a simple chest mark that directly resulted in a goal to Collingwood in the 2nd quarter.

Also today, on Channel 10, Robert Walls pointed out his lack of chase of effort on 2 or 3 occasions

P.S Awesome game from Col

I'm not a fan of Bruce's... certainly not today... but surely you can see the guy is an outside player? He's built like an ethiopian. If you're so [censored] about guys not putting their heads over the ball, consider the fact that we played a WHOLE lot of kids, and there's only so much McLean, Jones and a busted-up JMac can do.

Why people are surprised by the way Bruce plays never ceases to amaze me. We were thrilled to have him a few years ago when we had a mature side and he was able to finish and do jobs. Now that there's no-one else to dig it out, why are people so surprised his footy has dropped off? Drop him and who else will find it 28 times?

Our mature blokes had NO help from the youth today, which is not the kids' faults, but is still important to consider.

Today is one of the reasons why it's naive to think we can drop our 5-10 eldest players, and expect results.

Wow. did you people really expect anything other than that?

Yes, from anyone over the age of 24 in this team I expect a lot more.

Also, Miller must play instead in Robbo, because at least he works hard and presents and sets the right examples for the young guys

I haven't been this disappointed with our players since Round 22 last year.

The effort today, particularly in the first and third quarters was unacceptable.

Biggest letdowns were, as per usual, senior players.

Whelan far too lose, Bruce making terrible decisions, Green did little of note, Junior can hardly get a touch these days, Robbo (despite some good defensive work) is screwing up easy shots at goal and playing for frees too much.

Then you go to the next level and I thought Moloney was disappointing today, and let's not even get started on Paul "I love to give the ball to the opposition" Johnson!!!

It's disappointing that on a big day, in front of a big crowd, we couldn't put in a better performance. The four points are irrelevant, but effort is what counts and today was unacceptably poor both in terms of effort and skills. Very very bad day.

(Poor Jack Watts, what a [censored] introduction to AFL!)

1. Overuse of the football by hand. Players' first movement when gaining possession is to look for a handball backwards instead of looking for the space forwards.

2. Slow, wide ball movement going forward. Too many forward movements ending up in a marking contest deep in the forward pocket/flank.

3. At all time, players are clearly being instructed to huddle 25m forward of the MFC player in possession hence causing points 1, 2.

4. Poor skills by hand and foot (senior and new players alike).

5. Lack of intensity and accountability when not in possession, and pathetic attempts to tackle.

Positives for the day: Sylvia and rain. Oh, and Bailey for the most part resisted playing the loose man behind the ball (well, after we conceded 7 goals in the first quarter anyway).

Brilliant post.

When our opposition are playing at an intense level, as Collingwood did today and Hawthorn did a few weeks back, our gameplan falls to pieces.

Bailey will inevitably come out and say that turnovers killed us, as he does every week. FFS, it's obvious that we turn the ball over because we overuse the ball by hand.

We dominated the ruck, but couldn't win clean possession. Why? Because when we win possession in a contested situation, we bl##dy handball it backwards to someone who is standing flatfooted. The only player that we should handball it backwards to is Davey. He's the only one who can extricate himself from a tight situation.

And Sylvia was the only positive for the day.

I find it questionable that we had such a small forward line ,but still tried to bomb it in high. Not only was it small, but appeared stagnant, hence the easy way it rebounded out. 60 points does NOT win games.

I am afraid Robbo is NOT a key Forward, nor possibly is Matty Bate hence we can only have one. That is why Brad Miller is so important to us because he jumps and provides a physical presence.

I really hope that Stef Martin is back at Casey to learn, because we need him down back. Frawley and Warnock can only do so much.

Did like Grimes and Cheney, throw in Bennell and we have got some good small defenders. ( Don't worry Didak only comes good when everyone else around him is playing out of their arse so he goes along gfor the easy ride. He'll jump into a car with anyone !!)

I think we underutilized Brad Green a bit today by playing him forward.

We have got three good in & under players Jones, Moloney & Macca but thay lack a bit of pace so when they lose contact with the contest we become exposed.

Jamar has improved as has the other bloke number 12 . (But I thought he was an unmentionable 5 weeks ago)

I actually thought it was the other way around.

Junior, Green, Wheels, Robbo, Bruce had absolute shockers. Davey was seen in patches and McLean was like molasses

Today is one of the reasons why it's naive to think we can drop our 5-10 eldest players, and expect results.

Today is one of the reasons a number on the senior list will pensioned at year end. They are not up to it.

Couldn't agree more. The problem lies with our 5 or 6 most senior players. I say move them all on, I've had enough of them.

Absolutely.

Every senior player out there was well below capacity and that is ultimately what really hurt us.

To blame players with 1,5,10,20,30 game experience for what happened today is unfair. No doubt they are part of the team and they contribute to the loss, but they need to have the support of the senior players around them.

Sadly their capacity is now so low that retaining them on our list is pointless. Thanks for the memories.

the bruce one was interesting, took the ball at pace, cant be expected to stop on a twenty cent piece, the fact he looked over his shoulder warrented play on, that was his intention obviously,. agree with the rest. need to harden up in a big way

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
