Demonland Player of the Year

6- Jones (superb)

5- Morton (ball magnet)

4- Davey (the spark)

3- Miller (our best forward)

2- PJ (did extremely well against the best in the business)

1- Grimes (encouragement votes)

Apologies to pretty much everyone else who worked really hard. A special mention to Warnock and Marin who, in the absence of Rivers and Frawley, stood tall and kept to their task. Another special mention to Bartram for shutting down Kerr (who admittedly is injured).

6. Morton

5. Jones

4. Miller (How he can be overlooked is beyond me)

3. Moloney

2. PJ (Went along way to redeeming himself, just needs to follow it up next week)

1. Grimes (Well on the way to being worth his weight in gold)

Also special mentions to the following :

Maric - Well done... Started the game with a few errors like last week, but quickly showed how you can deliver the pinpoint passes we are lacking

Rivers - Nothing needs to be said... Just enter your name.... Ballzy.... F'ing Ballzy!

Bennell - Fast becoming the next Aaron Davey.... Your future is very bright young man!

Morton

Jones

Davey

Bennell

Bartram

And then a fair toss up. Bruce worked bloody hard, as usual, but also as usual, his disposal often let him down. Moloney also worked very, very hard, Miller presented well. Our backline really stood up in the face of hardship, Frawley going off really let LeCras off the hook. Probably have to give it to PJ.

6 - Jones (probably the best game I've seen him play)

5 - Moloney (10 clearances out of a team total of 28 was awesome)

4 - Morton (Got a lot of it and took some marks backing into packs which I hadn't seen from him before)

3 - Bruce (remarkable that some here didn't think he was in Melbourne's six best players)

2 - Miller (kept us in it in the 2nd quarter, worked hard all day)

1 - P Johnson (broke even with Dean Cox. That's almost as good as a win)

I thought Davey was very good in the first half but had little impact after half time, Bennell was very good, and it was very pleasing to see Maric bounce back.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
