A clown on the radio?

Knock me down with a feather.

Amazing, groundbreaking "story."

Seriously, how do these guys come up with this crap?

They whited out the old press release that orginally stated that Fitzroy and North Melbourne should merge.

It deserved a run since the swine flu mediademic had fallen off the front pages.

I'd say he is a tad slooow off the mark here. Missed his chance by 12 months. We have a stable board, record membership, young team on the up, good sponsorship, massive debt reduction, and i don't remember North ever being a section of the MCC which might hamper that little suggestion of his somewhat :lol::lol:

So it was Wayne Jackson.

Couldn't they find Ross Oakley for a quote?

Is Sir Kenneth Luke still dead? Maybe they could have gone to him for the latest news.

I dont think Jackson was around when the Melbourne and North Melb merger was on!!! So cant be dementure!!!!

Of all the proposed mergers it was the one which may have worked well - culturally and the mix of MFC NMFC and Qantas. Also the jumper was lot better than lot of the clash one about now!! Was mid 1980s I think.

ATM all 3 organisations are financially challenged!

I'm going to play the role of the devil's advocate here...

From an outsiders point of view looking at our position I think this is a fair enough opinion to have considering the assistance that we've received from the AFL over the last 4 or 5 years and our crowd sizes, especially the sub 15k we had the other week.

I personally don't care what people like Jackson say but it''s his opinion and everyone is allowed to have one, however we have to continue to work bloody hard to prove to the rest of Australia that we can survive on our own.

North should approach Tasmania and relocate there. They missed there opportunity with the Gold Coast and if they need to survive, i dont think merging with Melbourne is the answer and i wouldnt go to West Sydney.

Tasi is ready made, have stadium, cashed up, have fans, and only a short boat trip or plane flight from Melb for their fans.

I've always wondered about Tassie, would they be based in Hobart or Launceston?

Based in Launceston, but would schedule some games in Hobart.

From experience people from south of Tas (hobart) dont like the north (Launceston) and vise versa.

So they will winge about travelling, Im sure we have Tasmanians who would have a opinion on this.

oh dear.. seems Jackson's suffering Oldtimers !!

North is waning...North is still in trouble...their star isnt shimmering quite as it was and the cracks are appearing...yet again.

Melbourne is actually in the opposite position..whilst the Kangas are heading down...and for a while I would imaging as they wont get much out of the draft as they bottom out ; bad ( unfortunate ) timing there !!

Norths saviours havent quite materialised as promised. The AFL has a real bee in its bonnet and there is revenge on the agenda without doubt I feel. The tyrants that run the AFL are that small minded that they'll extract something in time. Melbourne will emerge from its malaise in the next few years and find its stride.

We have absolutely nothinng to gain by merging..and everything to lose. North are going to eventually fold or move I'd suggest. Tough for them but I dont want to ever dilute our persona. The Demon is back and its back for good :)

May I politely suggest to Jackson that he go shove his head up his neverland...oh ..hang on I think it must already be there !!! ;)

he was also talking to KB on SEN this morning. One of the reasons he gave for the merger was that Melbourne bought the MCG with them, while North had the heritage (or tradition, I can't quite remember) of on field success <_<

Heritage, tradition, on field success... yeah, Melbourne has none of that.

All we have is 151 years (North 140), 12 premierships (North 4) and a claim to be the oldest professional football club in the world.

Back in your box, Jacko.

He's from the pissant town where most think there are too many teams in Melbourne. It's an old agenda.

ah yes..kangas 4 cups.. Dees 12 <_< .. no team has a greater heritage than us !!

jackson's an idiot without doubt

The only thing that Jackson said that held any water is that YES..there is a ground called the MCG...and secondly the Kangas have long term problems !!

Jackson is nothing but a joke! He was as AFL president and he is now. The way his love child Port Adelaide is going perhaps they should be the ones to merge with North Melbourne?

Now SEN are going to run with the story & they want North & Dee's supporters to ring in & give their opinions. To make it more interesting for his ratings, the commentator said that "there is more in this & it wont go away".

Must be a slow week in sport!!!!

More in this...the head of the AFL has denied it (though he's a slimy, Draculian-type of leader)

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
