I think the team chosen is pretty good. Happy to see Maric in with Robbo.

Jetta will be good for a run at Casey. Has been good at times but could do with a few touches in the 2's.

As for Newton. May never be seen of again.

Should of been Bate out and Newton stays....oh well

IMO Bate's form has been up and down but he is a better footy player than Newton.

And his form didn't warrant selection ahead of Bate.

The decision may have been because Bate has more strings to his bow that Newton

No idea why the hell we pick out of form players in the first place

Oh Great.!!

I can already here it now "Newton is going to get in the way of Jack Watts development at Casey, just like Sauntner was getting in the way of Newton's".

Bate is probably out next if he can't do something this week.

Go Dees - Building for the Future.

This appears to be the physically strongest team we've picked all season.

Just in time for our testing run ahead of us.

Steven Stretch was an excellent servant of the Melbourne Football Club- A best and fairest and All Australian- at a time when Melbourne finally became a decent team after so many years of [censored]!!i've noticed on here a number of posts about him have questioned his courage- what a crock- he deserves so much better from so called Melbourne supporters who want to trash his reputation because of the 88 grand final disaster- wasn't just his fault there were 19 other players out there that day!! How can we expect ex players to continue to publicly embrace the club when so many of our "supporters" disown them once they're gone and try to minimise their contribution to the club- once a Demon always a Demon- have a bit of respect for anyone who wore our jumper, no matter how good or bad they are/were!!!

I loved watching Steven Stretch play.............he used to take some rippng marks, and was a damn good player!

As for Bate / Newton..................the difference is Bate has previously shown something...........Newton has shown nothing at senior level.

Right decision IMO.

the master bate should be in the midfield not the forward line.. he is so much better as a midfielder!!

Exactly

Newton would have a future if someone sat him on their kneee (better use someone tall, maybe Jimmy) and said "Son, don't worry about kicking the goal. We don't care right now. Just drop the ball onto your foot correctly and follow through the kick." At the moment, Newton looks like he is hooking the kids' basketball out of the way with the rake ready to mow the lawn. And you can smell the fear from the stand.

He gets near the ball much more than a couple of years ago. He would only get within 20 metres three times a game in 2006/7.

I can send in a 2001 Auskick CD (onya Woey) if MFC is struggling for kicking skills expertise.

no jetta for Casey today, obviously the emergency for Melbourne tomorrow... If he doesn't get a game tomorrow, and not recalled next week, he won't play next week either as Casey have a bye next week...

Whilist i think Newton has the capacity to play AFL physically i do think most of his problem is above the shoulders

When and IF he overcomes that he could be valuable

Stretch IMO was a good servant of the MFC

You obviously never saw him play by your statement

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
