Apologies is raised elsewhere ut I was meaning to ask any who are more informed... why didnt we wear our proper jumper on Sunday ? Surely thats not required as a result of a perceived clash !!

Have no problems with a 'Demon" but the trad guernsey is still the best.

just curious

cheers

again have no problem with the Demon but feel it ought only be used sparingly and when needed. Our 'real' jumper has a red yoke on dark blue..lets wear it with pride :)

Yeah, we need more navy blue on our clash jumper though, on the back somehow, Just need more blue. But yeah I`m a tradional man when it comes to jumpers. hopefully we don`t wear this at away games at the G.

Im really more just curious. Was it MFC's idea..were we asked to do it ? just struck me as strange to have worn it..thats all

I hope it wasn't us saying "We'll wear it for interstate matches" - that's really the time you need to band together for the jumper as much as possible IMO

I'm a traditionalist but understand that change is sometimes necessary for marketing reasons etc etc.

However the changes made seem to be for change's sake. For example when we changed to that insipid

blue we had a few years back, the dropping of the Demon (remember the pc rubbish about the Bombers

a few years back?) and the away jumpers. We seem to be incapable of producing a good away jumper

(IF WE have to HAVE ONE). No one seems to have the courage to say NO, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Let's

get serious in how we market the club.

The latest is the insipid Demon logo we have, methinks he has been gourging himself at Maccas when

in recess. He is not lean and mean and mighty (even unclean) instead he is fat and lazy looking. Some

fearsome logo, I don't think so. Hell, he is so fat he wouldn't be able to stand on a set of skis.

I've just finished reading The Red Fox. Wonder what he would have to say about the way the club is run.

UJ, I don't really like the Red jumper, however I was lucky enough to win Whelan's White clash strip in the Bushfire auction.

It's very, very attractive

I was pleasantly surprised we didn't have to wear it against the Filth a couple of weeks ago. All part of the AFL agenda to have "light vs dark" on TV. Can't see that it'd cause that much of a clash with Port, but we'll have to wear it again against: the Eagles (?), Aints, Bombres, Lions, and the Cartel.

Essendo in clearly the conspiracy. We haven't had a home match against them for 3 seasons: and it's only to accommodate THEIR wish not to have to wear a clash jumper.

Obviously, red and navy blue clash with teal, black and white.

I love the traditional jumper but am happy to have an away jumper if it raises extra $$ for the club and if it is does well then it is a jumper you'd love to have.

BUT this jumper is hideous.

I really liked some of the ideas floated on here for the red based alternative jumper with the MFC initials but I think this jumper with the Demon logo looks so so so so so so 2nd rate it is not funny. Looks like they have pasted the logo in a word doco and stretched it to far tot he sides just to fit it on the jumper.

Needs to be rectified.

The AFL has a ridiculos policy on Jumpers clashing that didn't used to exist.

In the AFL's eyes they think they Melbourne's navy blue would clash with Port's black, which I don't think is true.

We will definitley wear it against Essendon at the Dome, as well as Carlton, but if we wear it against Richmond it will be going to far.

Oh yeah and we might wear it against West Coast at subi as well.

The away strip is not an issue with me. If we don't like it we can change in 2 years. What I have issue with is the shade of Red and Blue in the Ttraditional jumper. I reckon the red needs to be "RED" and the blue to be darker. This was brought up by Schwabby at the AGM but am yet to here anything since.

Despite putting the red jumper v white jumper to a vote on melbournefc.com.au, there was never an outcome announced, and now here we are having worn three different uniforms this year. What's that about trying to re-establish our identity? Perhaps this isn't the best way of going about it.

Also, if we're serious about trying to grow a supporter base in Cranbourne, why don't we get Casey wearing jumpers that are more similar to ours? After all, we've got the same colours?

To be honest i really prefer the nab challenge white jumper as a clash strip. I think the red looks kind of strange and too similar to the red of several years ago. Obviously id like to see them wear the Trad every match, but i really like the white.

All jumpers that Melbourne wear should be only red and blue. Keep the white one aside for Nab Cup perhaps, the silver failure of last year is a distant memory now.

I would have thought it was a 'clash strip' only not an 'away strip'. I was a little surprised they wore it too, and wonder if it was an AFL decision handed down? i would be disappointed if it did come from the AFL. IMO it's not a clash.

Schwab also mentioned re: "RED" at the Summit last year.

I Don't believe the Rubbish spoken about the "Clash" Jumpers. Its all Marketing. There is no clash with Ports Jumper.

This is all designed as a marketing ploy & also to dilute the History of clubs in case the AFL ever decide we must move. To be forced to wear a Clash strip against Port is a disgrace. I shall ring the club.

Interestingly, after speaking to a person with a fair amount of clout at the club I was lead to believe that the fat, lazy logo on the alternate jumpers is not set in stone to be our logo from next season. There is a push for a more old fashioned, 'angrier', less stylized logo. There is also a push to change the acuteness of the V on our normal jumper along with ensuring the blue stays a true navy blue. The jumper will look more like the picture that poster 'CarnTheDees' uses.

Really good news! Hope it moves quickly to happen for next season. I love the fact it is back to a red and blue desgin but as you said it is a slap dash, LAZY logo.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
