Pre season training invitees

Judging by Barry Prendergasts comments in the Herald Sun (an insight into the demons decision making process), he mentioned that Bailey was disappointed we didn't pick up a competitive inside ball winner then I wouldn't be suprised if that was high on there wish list come PSD.

A tall forward must be at least looked at thoroughly imo

Surely Rockliff & Sibosado are both training somewhere...

The psd/rookie drafts are only a week away, so maybe the players have been told to lay low for a week with the promise of being selected by a particular club.

I'd also presume that we are not interested in either player for the psd, otherwise it would make no sense not to have them training with us as early as possible.

Yeah, I considered both of those things... But surely clubs have already made up their minds, or are close to it, so laying low is kinda pointless...

Can't say i think you're wrong on either count though.

Rockliff was invited to train with Port. Turned it down apparently. Theres a rumour that Chocco Williams gave him some criticism about not getting a good test result in the 3k run at draft camp, Rockliff then cried. (Bigfoory Rumour, so probably full of sh!t)

Recruiting has improved but it's still not an exact science. People have memories like goldfish around here. Flash was a rookie a few short years ago, he's now the face of our marketing. Steph Martin has me as excited as any of last years pickups, still fools claim if you weren't picked in the national draft, you're no good. Bail has been passed over 6 or 9 times in drafts and yet because he was picked in the ND this year he's ahead of everybody who wasn't  . Meesen was a top 10 pick ( I think) a few years ago. As Jack Watts said, right now he's on even footing with everyone else drafted this year, it's what happens after you make a list that matters.

I expect each of our 1st 3 picks in the ND to be a very good player, we're doing well if we get a very good player every 3rd PSD/RD. That 9x the hit rate.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

The Demons head back to Melbourne after an embarrassing loss to the Dockers to take on the Magpies at the MCG on Kings Birthday. With a calf injury to Lachie Hunter and Jacob van Rooyen possibly returning from injury who comes in and who goes out?
