Still we could learn from how Carlton has operated the last couple of years.

Carlton's team is a house of cards, 2, maybe even just 1 card missing and the whole thing will topple over. You have to build from the ground up and develop the players as a team. We'll pass them in a few years as they stagnate between 6 and 10 on the ladder.

Yeah, i see them as being like a St. Kilda - they have their Riewoldt & Goddard (No. 1 picks) and a Luke Ball (No.2) but without the necessary role players around them, the team doesn't seriously threaten anyone. I know they made it far in the finals, but i still don't consider them a real contender.

And i think they are on the slide...

I think the Saints of 2004 were a superior side to the current Blues team and probably still are. If you look at the ages of the Saints players the're not that old. Maybe still a chance but things would have to fall their way

The DB article certainly came as a bit of a shock.

I knew that CJ was very unhappy under Daniher because of a lack of opportunities. So here comes a new coach and gives him plenty of chances to prove himself, and what does CJ do, he takes the first chance he gets to leave, because finally another club is mildly interested in him.

What complete and utter crap and a disgrace to his family name, considering what a champion of the MFC his dad was.

I lose interest fast when a player shows no passion or loyalty to our great club.

I'm with you. wanted him to stay, but now couldn't be happier he's gone. i hope his dad gives him a real talking to at Christmas lunch!!! A disgrace to the family name. And if Alan has any more young boys, my message would be that we probably don't want them.

Bit strong. I know you are emotional over this.

Perhaps we are a bit over-emaotional over this, but his dad was a real favourite amongst those who used to watch him. And I know you were one of those. Maybe not a disgrace to the family name, but certainly puts a sour note on the otherwise great legacy his father left at the club.

You will be savaged Chrissy when you play us.

Johnson would know full well the state the club is in, and he completely disregarded it. Even a late pick would be some consolation.

I wouldn't mind so much if he wanted to go home to WA, and it seems much more logical given the picks they have. I really don't see how Carlton could be so confident about landing Johnson, unless they're willing to part with a late pick in the national draft, which begs the question, why couldn't that have been traded to us?

Johnson should have made his mind up much earlier, and informed the club of his decision before the trade period.

I do think Johnson was well on his way to becoming a good player, and he filled a role. A good kick on half-back is a great advantage.

I don't think he'll be getting a game at round 21 when we play them. If he and Warnock are getting a game it will prabably confirm that Visy are a poor man's St Kilda. I think we'll beat them, and I don't think Visy have got the cattle to come from tank to top plank.

Supporters here like Jaded amaze me!!!!

Ryan Fergusson gets bagged on this site for wanting to stay at the Dees and uninformed no brainers like Jaded

have a go at CJ because he is trying to do the best for himself.

Ask White, Yze, etc etc about loyalty and then ask Jaded what she would do in the same position.

Being a Realist, Loyalty is really only one way!!

It's not so much that he's doing the best for himself, it's that he completely shafted the club in the process.

Jaded.. Form mine the hype surrounding Johnson was very overdone . Again we have a kid with supposed pedigree who in all reality isnt a reflection in his old man's White Diamonds !! Its disappointing to me we wont get anything for him.( other than another freed up spot ) . He had glimpses of ability without ever putting in a pearler let alone tearing a game apart.

Another goes as part of a weeding out process..so be it.

CJ is no big loss at all. if he doesnt want to play for us, then get rid of him. whatever. put valenti on the list instead. at least he will add to the culture of the place by working his arse off

He played 7-8 good (never great) games in 5 years and people are crying about his loss?

If carlton want him they will pick him up in the National draft. It is now possible for players to nominate.

If they leave it to the preseason he MIGHT be picked up before them.

Not sure to many clubs would be interested to be honest.

If he nominates for the National Draft, he can't specify contractual requirements.

It may have been the best financial option for CJ, but in the last couple of years when it was the best option for us to get rid of him, we didn't. We stuck by him, and it was only because Bailey gave him his due opportunities this year that he was even able to have the choice to leave (nobody wanted him before that).

I've been probably one of his biggest supporters on this site, and I really felt he was hardly done by due to an unfair lack of opportunity.

Bailey clearly wanted him around, because he gave him plenty of game time and the club offered him a new contract. What a slap in the face it is, that the first opportunity he gets he runs for a bit more money. So again, a pathetic thing to do, especially given his strong ties to this club.

Perhaps my opinion is a little strong or a little harsh, but if there is one thing I hate is a fundamental lack of loyalty. Had we got rid of him two years ago, like everyone wanted, he'd be playing for some D grade club. To think we wasted 5 years and a top 20 pick on him

If he ends up at Carltank he will be at a D grade club.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
