Connolly: "Brad hasn't re-signed, so he's an obvious one to be asked about and Hawthorn and Sydney asked about him and we see him as a very important leader around the club"

"Chris is in a position where we're just waiting for some balls to fall with some contractual arrangements and whether he re-signs with the club, and Mark's a contracted player."

---------

"We've still got a strong interest in Robbie Warnock, if he can't get an arrangement with Carlton," Connolly said.

"We've also staked an interest in Brent Prismall and he hasn't made a decision one way or the other yet, so we're waiting on some confirmation there."

Versatile Demon Brad Green has also attracted the interest of Port Adelaide, but Rohde said plenty would have to happen for him to switch from Melbourne.

"We've had some mild interest in Brad Green, but it hasn't really got that far," he said.

"The salary he's after is probably not in our ball park and he's at the club that's finished 16th, so leverage wise it's a bit hard to get a deal."

Rohde said young Power midfielder Adam Thomson was likely to land at another AFL club by the end of the week.

"[There] hasn't been too much [interest], but we think by the end of the week, he might end up at a home somewhere else," he said.

Connolly said Melbourne would consider giving Fremantle pick 17 or 19 for Warnock – a deal that would unite him with older brother Matthew.

yeah i'm a little concerned- however, if we get picks for wheatley, green cj and jamar- we can afford to trade 19. a ruckman is obviously high on our priority list- as it should be too.

Mc Intosh and Warnock would cost about Pick 19 each I would think, I'm not saying that is what they're worth, rather what they will cost. Mc Intosh I'd probably prefer.

Considering the possible compensation we would receive for CJ I don't want him traded. He has shown plenty this year and a possible second or early third rounder would be a risk given that we have a developing running ball winner in the hand.

So long as Prismall doesn't cost to much I'd love to see him in red & blue. Sure there is a risk, but I think he's worth it, if we have to trade he wont cost much (Pick 51?) and of course there is the possibility we'll get him in the PSD.

Jamar, trade interest, who would have thought? See what's on offer I suppose. All of his hard work throughout the year was somewhat soured in my mind by the shot from goal, five metres out against the Bombers for me.

Mcintosh was pick 8 in the draft if i remember rightly.

The kangas have pumped 6 years of development in him i doubt they will accept a pick 19.

his name is on the table only for a top 10 pick ... if that is not offered he remains a kanga....simple

By saying we are still interested in Warnock and that we still have 17 and 19 it puts extra pressure on the twankers to do better than 24. If they get him lets hope they pay thru the nose. No need to do them any favours.

Also if we can get him on our terms ok but better to use top picks on kids then top up with ready made's later - like the hawks/twankers.

No point getting ready made's now who will get us say 5 - 6 wins and we miss out on picks 1 & 2 next year. Although Warnock is FAR AWAY from ready made and Prisnall will miss most of next year and be firing in 2010 when Bails will start getting serious about climbing the ladder.

Hmm,

My Take is:

Trade all 3 demons. Grab what you can for Jamar, and CJ (Cj is coming of age, but will be surpassed by the young crop of players coming through before too long). Green has value, this is the last year he will.

Warnock is not worth pick 17 or 19, and why would we do something so stupid when we get grab him in the PSD?

Not keen on prismall, and injury like that never allows a player to e the way he was before. Will still be decent, but too risky with such a strong draft class to choose from instead.

Yep I agree Wrathchild.

Trade all of them and not worry about Prismall from the Cats. Just wait until the Pre-Season Draft and take the best uncontracted player left there who is (hopefully) under 23.

I would prefer getting more top 30 draft picks.

Yep, I agree with ya, S_D, the more picks the merrier.

Lets load up with young talent.

what about the 'we'll trade pick 19 for warnock' just to [censored] carlton off. take the paper work say we'll look over it, then change our mind at the last minute, too late to trade to carlton and then snare him in the PSD? lol carlton wont offer their first round pick, and if they do they deserve to be screwed.

Sounds good, but I'd assume Carlton wouldn't just sit there waiting for us, they'd be looking at other, similar offers and would just turn their back on us once they realised we're looking at PSD.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
